Van Canto is simply more modern band so they might sound better for many. This is not a bad thing as Grave Digger gets more attention thanks to such covers of their songs.

I saw them at the "Power of Metal" Tour this year. They were nothing, with their grandpa music. Sabaton and PowerWolf fucked them with every song they played this evening.
@TheHeartbreaker2009 Without Grave Digger the german Metal scene wouldn´t be the same, they are the fathers of german Heavy/Power Metal and made the way for (of course great) bands like Powerwolf. If you are not into the traditional kind of true Heavy Metal, if you are into "Pop-Metal" like Sabaton, thats ok. But Grave Digger burn 90% of the young Metal Bands with one riff down to the fucking ground. To sound as powerful as Grave Digger, Sabaton need a huge soundwall of Keyboards. THAT is weak.

Three fans of Grave Digger cried and only when they played "Rebellion" there was a bit metal-feeling and emotion. And then came PowerWolf with "Sanctified with Dynamite" and the Club went crazy.

I don't get all the bitching about Van Canto. Personally, I find them better but that's my opinion and I'm not going to press it upon anyone. To answer the questions people are asking, Van Canto is a German acapella metal band. Their video has more views because it has the lead singer of Grave Digger in it and it is acapella METAL. Not to detract from Grave Digger, but I'm pretty sure most people find acapella metal more interesting.

for me, van canto is just a curiosity... an interesting idea, but 3 or 4 songs are enough... a good idea but not enough good to worth an entire album or concert. Im not saying they are crap, they made good work, but after 3 o 4 covers heard, the magic dies.

You have to listen to how each guitar strum was imitated through voice. That's Van Canto's talent. I've never understood the apparent long-standing feud the Scots have with the English. Sure in the days of Medieval yore; we killed many Scottish to assert dominion of their country. But nowadays? Are we storming Edinburgh and slaughter all who resist? I'm not saying what the English did was justified but it was a different world and generation. Fuck old historical hatreds and prejudices. It's time to let go of the past and work toward a future that is GOOD for all mankind.
Beside this, historical rivalries make great music and this track is badass. Learned of Grave Digger from listening to the cover of this from Van Canto, which is awesome. Glad to know of these two GREAT bands. Keep rocking. Keep fighting for the glory of all mankind.

@blaztermaniac75 god damned VAN CANTO sucks compared to grave digger!! they make shit out of good songs like maidens fear of the dark! i saw them on breeze 2010 and i was ASHAMED to see something like this on a metal festival!!!! cant understand why blind guardian took them as band playin before them...something works really wrong...damned.

@48cannibalcorpse It's callled art in music. You can't compare the original version of the music to Van Canto based on just instruments and singing. You have to listen to how each guitar strum was imitated through voice. That's Van Canto's talent. The original artists of their songs do not just allow Van Canto to do their music without some music appreciation first. You might want to go and study music theory first before you say a capella sucks.

Scotland has a big ethnic English make up. The Anglo Saxon Kingdom of Bernicia stretched beyond the Firth of Forth and this South-eastern portion of the country was ruled and populated by the English for hundreds of years. Edinburgh was named after the English King Edwin. Also the south Western Area of Scotland was culturally and linguistically Welsh (Strathclyde-Strath "Clwyd"). The Scots themselves were Irish invaders who displaced the naitve Picts.

I've never understood the apparent long-standing feud the Scots have with the English. Sure in the days of Medieval yore; we killed many Scottish to assert dominion of their country. But nowadays? Are we storming Edinburgh and slaughter all who resist? I'm not saying what the English did was justified but it was a different world and generation. Today; we share this island nation peacefully and without incident; so why hold onto old aggressions of long dead people? Anyway; Grave Digger rule hard
