  • Craig's hair looks like noodles

  • I love Chris Potter and Jazz Fusion in general

  • 9:05 audience looks so hit

  • this is AMAZING! i wish there were more jazz artists that are like this, does anyone know any songs that are similar to this?

  • This is a "rebel" video. =p

  • I love Chris Potter's composing style. Heaps of his tunes, like this one has a melody (funky as shit) then overlaps another one over the top of it. Never in 4 haha, and Taborn just plays both at the same time with ridiculous ease! aaah!!

  • Your video is a favorite on Nay Pyi Taw

  • this is spicier than your average jalapeno

  • 2:10 nate smith looks posessed lol

  • at 06:01 , I like how Craig Taborn talks to Chris Potter and keeps grooving on the fender rhodes at the same time, it seemed pretty easy to do for him. Remarquable independance! :)

  • New to Chris Potter and his Underground. Man Ive missed out the last couple of years!! And the Drummer!! Get all moist in my eyes listening to him. The groove, the pulse, the beat:)

  • Well someone knows their scales

  • @TheShammit ...just a few lol

  • This is so freaking coool ! Love Nate Smith O_O

  • wow

  • 9:18 Oh sooo sick!!!!!

  • where's the one?

  • where's the one?

  • @TrueMason it's like three measures of four and one of three (or one of 8 followed by one of seven)

  • Wow, that audience is not very enthusiastic. I would have been at least standing to his music, it's so moving. He's incredible.

  • Chris Potter's solo isn't as good as I hoped it would be. Nate's solo was a mofo though.

  • Man I wish I could groove as hard as Nate in odd time signatures. I think that is why he is such a great drummer, he knows how to keep a groove going and interesting at the same time. I also think that although Tabourn (sp?) covers a lot of the low end stuff on the Rhodes, this band wouldn't be able to groove with no bassist without Nate, he grooves that hard.

  • nate smith just chopped my brain..

  • i would school this guy

  • @aaronamccoy Nope.

  • @aaronamccoy ok i watched your vids and would totally NOT school chris potter. i hope you were being sarcastic. if not, stop dreaming.

  • @aaronamccoy HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

  • listen to my creep then maybe you'll understand

  • hes good but his tone sounds like a lot of other players

  • @aaronamccoy honestly. that is not true at all.

  • @fenderfenatic whatever you say boss, just one mans opinion

  • who the heck disliked this???? he's either blind and didn't see the like button or jealous.

  • @matews Or just a guy that likes tasty, melodic music instead of this artsyfartsy, pseudo modern bullshit...

  • @boxing1000 Seriously you call this pseudo modern "bullshit"????? There is nothing "bullshit" about music like this, this is raw talent and hard work put into something these guys love. Auto tune artists you can call bullshit cause they don't work nearly as hard or are as passionate as these guys are. Also you're clearly a music tart cause this is full of melody. You shouldn't even bother airing your opinion on music like this. Its not valid cause you just don't get it.

  • @Mattyfbinks Oh,I am dead serious..and,sure,it might take a lot of work to sound like this but it STILL sounds horrible. If this is full of melody I am sure you hate Trane,Bird,Bergonzi,Grossman etc guys who REALLY are into melody.

  • @boxing1000 stop getting stuck in the past, those guys were great, but chris potter and all these new guys are just as amazing in their own way, and they all sound incredible and their all expanding on the base of what coltrane , bird, and bergonzi did. if all artists sounded like the oldies music would get pretty damn boring after about two minutes

  • @gjbsaxman94 Not as boring as this stuff, though...

  • @Mattyfbinks You need to check out stone alliance,Steve was playing this kind of music in the 70'ies but a million times better. You're welcome.

  • They have got a twiggy in their buttocks, yeah!

  • That crowd's got a bit of a stick up its ass--no? Hot clip. Thanks for posting!!!

  • this song gets me so pumped! i saw these bitches live in NYC a few years ago, first time i had even heard them ever, creamed my pants and shat a walrus. One of my top 5 jazz bands.

  • Nate Smith is a perfect example of outstanding musicianship. Even when he's playing a shaker he gets into it! No matter what role he's playing, he does it so passionately.

  • Nice!!!

  • I transcribed the majority of this song, and my lord Taborn's solo at the beginning was hard. It honestly took be the better part of an hour

  • ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

  • 8.09... enough said

  • wow kinda reminds of the elastic band, with potter's own flare of course

  • few years ago, me and my brother won a backstage ticket for jazz festival in Prague, where he was playin' with his band. Photo with him was the first thing to come on mind :) great playa'!

  • I saw them play live in amsterdam, it was absolutely amazing!! so is this vid!

  • seriously, i wouldve been up there dancing. so freaking groovy!

    nate smiths solo was epic!

  • @iloveangelsla good luck dancing in 15/8! if i tried to dance to this i would surely shit my pants first

  • @DangerDancer69 haha, true. i guess i kinda meant like basically spazzing out on stage anyways lol

  • I think I probably scared my neighbours with my shouts of joy over this song, particularly the end of that spectacular drum solo leading into Chris's!

  • diirrrrrrttty.

  • Can anyone tell me his setup here?

  • @heatersax Well, that is his new Gold Plated Mark VI. As for his reed/mcp/lig setup...I can't tell you the mouthpiece. But I know for a fact he uses Rico Jazz Selects. And the lig is a Olegature.

  • who's the drummer?

  • @Delbonete

    Adam Rogers : guitar

    Craig Taborn : Fenders

    Nate Smith : drums

    Chris Potter : ts :)

  • THANK YOU for re uploading this video. I remember it got taken down some while ago.

  • I should have 200 or 250 views just for this video... It's my starting page on firefox. Each time I open it, I listen to it. =)

  • Youtube are becoming video rights monopoly tyrants, trying to control what we watch on the internet is like the equivalent of trying to tell apple that every one of their products doesn't have to be thinner then a paper clip. Its just not possible.

  • Could you please upload ultrahang played by chris potter on this concert, it used be on youtube, but I cant find it anymore! please, thank you very much

  • THANK YOU FOR UPLOADING THIS

  • haha that ending was ridiculous

  • ive contributed almost 100 of the views this video has, i cant get enough of this. I wish there were more of these with such good quality

  • I saw these guys at Monterey Jazz Festival. A lot of people left by the end...

The one's who stayed WERE ALL KIDS UNDER 20 YEARS OLD and THEY WERE DIGGING IT!!!

These guys are years ahead of musically. No one understands them yet. These guys are about as good as anything Weather Report and Miles electronic back in the day (I'm old enough to have seen this shit and I'm telling Potter & Company are the real deal).

Go out and support live music. It's all we have.

  • @ramonlazotrio ...that was a killer show in Monterey!!!!

  • @ramonlazotrio ...that was a killer show in Monterey!!!! especially liked that one Adam Rogers tune that Chris announced with "adam calls this...Ripples(actually forgot the title but it was a one word title)."

  • 장난 아니네. 저렇케 드럼을 쳐야하는데.. 갈길이 멀다..

  • @mojaty82 الوعظ وقراءات من الكتاب المقدس وبرامج إذاعية

  • I just went through and had to remove a ton of nunalp vids from my playlists. This was gone for some time though. Thanks for putting it up!

  • How do you get this concert? Is it an all Chris Potter concert or is it a jazz festival?

  • It's the Stuttgart Jazz Open Festival

  • If I was in that crowd I would be head banging. Its funny to see people not even moving

  • @frizzzzzzal me too!!!

Probably invited people who don't give a damn about high quality music.

  • Chris Potter is one of my favorite musicians!!!! Awesome!

  • yeap, b4 nunoalpi got banned we got a lot of jazz material in high quality and now youtube sux!,

  • Yeah, it's really sad!!!

  • @TheFusionJunkie It would be awesome if you could upload some more of this stuff. All the other youtube vids on "Underground" are usually bad quality or something.

  • I'm so sad nunoalpi's account was banned, so thank you for re-uploading this!

  • I'm very sad too, it was an incredible resource of hi-quality music!!!

It's a shame I only downloaded that... I have the other tracks from the same concert, I'll upload them soon.

  • That would be very awesome!

  • @TheFusionJunkie That would be awesome!

  • @TheFusionJunkie Could you upload the other ones?

  • thank you for up this video.
