  • 3A3T wow

  • If only she did the 3A-3T in competition

  • AMAZING that she could easily rival the men from this time! I think if the current ISU system was in place in 1992, midori would have won the MENS title, lol, she could land a 3 axel-3toe, and a 3 lutz- 3 toe!

  • so amazing, better than men

  • MONSTER

  • She is a major insult to Evan Lysacek. Lysacek sucks balls compare to her.

  • @kev7978 I'd bow down and say, "Im not worthy!"

  • She can compete with male skater.

  • HUGE!!

  • holly crap!!!

  • She was the only athlete of the past who can compete with the athletes of modern days.

  • she jumps sooo high. Asada's got nothing on her.

  • @MusicLuver093 I agree, the best jumper of all time in the Ladies. Had it not been for compulsory figures, she would have medalled at Olympics 88 and won her 2nd Worlds in 1990. Unforgettable Midori.

  • @premierrules She's coming back to compete again. I believe she's trying senior or adult skating. but she is coming back this year.

  • perfect!!!!!!!!!

  • superrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

  • This is 3A-3T Very Amazing I'm korean, but I think she is very Legend Jumper!

  • I have never seen who can jump like midori. She has changed figure skating to sports. And also she shows artistic ability based on technic. We were also lucky to have Yuka Sato who has one of the best skating skill.( Midori and Yuka were skaters in compulsory era, so it was not surprising their footwork were better than most current skater.) Many japanese skater might feel inspired by Midori's and Yuka's skating. I am lookin forward to see skater has jumping ability and beautiful skating.

  • @surgere94 yuna tried 3A so hard but she finally couldnt make it. famous story tho.

  • Triple Axel - Triple Toe.

  • Midori Ito is a total LEGEND! no on else can come close.

  • @Sulis2007 Tonya Harding landed a few but M I landed more in competition.I liked Tonya's more as she had more height on her jumps and didn't lean as much.

  • This woman is my favorite skater of all time.

  • She's better than most male skaters today ....far better than the current male olympic champion.

  • @Emeraldgreen501 I was thinking the same thing...she was more than capable of winning the Men's 2010 Olympic Gold. Put her 3a next to Evan's and there is simply no comparison.

  • Notice her short distance skating for triple axel preparation and the amount of speed in which she builds.

  • not even tonya nor surya came close to midori when it comes to jumping, also she's brought more artistry to the ice than the other 2 girls. she's a complete package

  • holy crap!!! no women at the current era can do that!!!! amazing!!!!!

  • In a class all to her own. Ito was snubbed for "artistry," however many who had "artistry" at the time (Witt, Thomas-don't get me started, etc), though talented, were boring, not exciting, and usually melodramatic and over marked. Ito brought a joy to the ice, and had wonderful flow and speed. I can understand people saying Surya lacked basic skating technique such as edging, and she lacked grace. But Ito was not in the same league at all. As Cranston said "Ito is beyond 6.0."

  • @mlc2005. Oh how I totally agree 500% with your comments. There was nothing wrong with Midori's artistry - she had a lovely style and flow. Artistry is not about hamming it up or "telling a story" it is about style. Midori had a gorgeous layback. I think sometimes when a skater is as technically gifted as Midori that the media and skating world try to do them down by saying they lack artistry. Midori is the best free skater in women's history. 20 years on no woman has bettered her.

  • npe1: Completely agree with you! It's almost hard to wrap one's head around the fact that, 20 years ago, there was this blue-collar girl from Japan who, to this day, has never been topped. I hope Midori realizes how much she is loved and respected. On top of it all, she seems to be about as humble, modest and as lovely as it gets!!! Thanks.

  • @npe1 I agree, she was the best and no one was gifted like her. She deserved to be 2-3 times gold at OG.

  • It is lucky that she was born in Nagoya.

Because she met the coach Michiko Yamada.

Midori's parents divorced when she was four years old.

    She must stop skating economically.

But Yamada coach received her, lived together, and taught skating her.

She has expressed gratitude for the coach. And, they are family.

    That's why she stay Nagoya.

Machiko and Midori's influence, there are a lot of famous skaters in Nagoya.

Mao Asada, Miki Ando, Yukari Nakano, Akiko Suzuki, Yoshie Onda.etc.

  • Midori was born in the wrong era. She would have skated away from the pack imo with such jumps today-her spirals aren't great but her edges and spins are pretty nifty.

  • Incredible!!!

We won't have seen anyone like her in a hundred years or more. I wish Mao 's gonna do 3x-3 in a or coming years.

Some jerks out there, don't you know that people loved Midori, saying adorable.

I do bet no one REALLY loves you with such a nasty personality inside, which will surely leave you forlone at the end. You deserve it.

  • hahaha and he keeps going on chattering about the wet ice...haha so funny, while the most incredible jumper ever does a 3A-3Toe...

  • @SwissMan73 the wet ice is a better jumper.

  • omg@@

  • best female jumper in figure skating history.

  • Wow, simply amazing !!

  • wow!

  • That height is amazing!!

  • wow@@

    look at the hight!!!

  • kiyoharaoji00、

  • Midori is not ugly. She is beautiful. I don't like reading ugly comments and lies about Midori, its like insulting Tonya's personal profile by saying that she's ugly too.

  • @kiyoharakoji00 like you are a very talented and pretty skater or something.

  • The green is one of the favorite skaters. As for her, not only the jump but also a spin and the step are splendid.

For the times when artistry was made much of, the attitude of her jump serious consideration was criticized. However, she continued making an effort with a small body of 145 centimeters.

I am somewhat worthless and feel it and am lonely when I watch the present figure skating.

  • It you were remade at the genetic level your spirit would still be horrid for making such a nasty comment.

Midori is the greatest natural talent of any type to ever come out of Japan. I hate how you terrible people are so cruel her and the rest of your talent because it does not conform.

The Japanese are doomed to be a people of efficient imitators until they learn the very nature of extreme talent is that it does not ...

  • Hence, confirming everything I said. Horrid people.

  • visceraltuning:

i couldnt agree with u more...

its ridiculous how people keep on talking about whether she was pretty or not, beauty is relative after all

plus THIS IS A SPORT NOT A BEAUTY CONTEST, what matters here r the technical ability and the ability to perform, not the pretty face

and midori has both, the greatest technical ability in ladies skating in history, and an incredible charisma and ability to perform...

this people need to stop being so shallow...

    japanese should be proud

  • @kiyoharakoji00 it's not funny. it's funny because you are saying about yourself.

  • all the girls of today cheat their landings and spin super fast. no female skater does a triple axel with the height and cleanliness as Midori. What an era!

  • woah! that was amazing

    shes soo good!

    im crying, seriously.

  • You guys Koreans must be so obsessive. This is the clip showing "Midori Ito's" gorgeous 3A-3T. RIght now nobody even talks about Yuna Kim who DID NOT even exsist when Midori was dominating the world.

  • Fans like you who just come out of nowhere and talk about Yuna when the clip is obviously NOT about Yuna or her standing as a skater are just rude and absurd. It'll be nicer if fans like you stopped doing that. Seriously, it's sorta embarrasing and looks very defensive/insecure.

  • Stupid people like you keep bringing down the images of Korea and Yuna. Shame, shame, shame!

  • taliking about YNKF's comment

  • YNKF, pride is completely different from arrogance that you are showing here.

  • It may not "count" in competition, but it "counts" in real life. What other woman can land that ?

  • what do you mean it wont count?

  • I notice how fast Midori Ito spins while airborne during her triple axel. She is almost literally a complete blur.

  • What quadruple loop ? I have never heard of Harding doing that. What year, and where is it on Youtube, as I can't believe if she did it that nobdoy recorded it,as all her other vidoes are here to watch......

  • tonya harding never did a quad loop, only one female has ever landed a quad in competition and that was miki ando with a quad salchow

  • but it doesnt count unless she landed it in competition

  • WOW!

  • OMG

  • i cant believe the commentator kept talking about how wet the ice was without going like "OMG A TRIPLE AXEL-TRIPLE TOE LOOP" i would have definitely gone like that, i mean u dont see that every day, Midori was and still is BY FAR the most amazing technical skater in history, she could have nailed quads if she had wanted to...

  • I agree. Not yet have I seen a woman get the height on their jumps like Midori. And then she has her flying sit spin, which is totally awesome!

  • true... oh... and i heard she did quads in practice... then again, she did a TRIPLE axel with a wrapped leg, that is extremely difficult, to that add the triple toe she added after it, and the speed she had, and the height she got in every jump... she was the finest technical female skater, and still no one can compare to her

  • yes but she have injuries because of those quads i think she maybe was putting more high to them that it was impossible to control the landing:S

  • well even while i dont do quads, i know they r extremely difficul to control just by them self, imagine with the height she probably gave to them... i still think she is the most amazing technical skater, she was just incredible, so ahead of her time... simply amazing

  • 3a-3t. Incredible.

  • Mao who?

  • mao asada is an incredible Japanese figure skater. I think 15 or 16 years old. Current world champ. Has landed 3 a.

  • yes, I know who Mao is... it's a joke.

  • Yup.. she was coached by the same coach as Midori's

she also the first woman (not yet a woman at that time :) to land 2 triple axels in a competition!

  • that was amazing!!!!!!!!!

  • holy crap!! idk what to say!!! new idol much?!

  • did she ever do that in competition? has ANY female done a 3a3t combo?

  • yes this is in competition. never. i've never seen a 3a3t.

  • nope...

Mao atleast landed two quality 3ple axels in a long program...

first one is 3 axel alone and the second is a 3a-2t

  • OMG!! she flies!!!

  • at least we knew the ice is wet thannks commentator O_O

  • But she did regrouped herself and hit her triple Axel at 3:10 into her program. Now, that was astonishing as well, especially for the ladies.

  • If only the Japanese media didn't hound her to death during the Olympics, she would not have lost her confidence and became nervous. Since then, she would only skate at her best when she's not competiting (ie warm-ups, etc.).

  • Hardest combination for ladies...

  • WOW! she does it so easily!

  • oh what I wouldn't give to have a 3ax - 3 toe combo in my arsenal. :D

  • whats the hardest thing in your arsenal?

  • Probably a waltz jump-loop.

    :D

  • *silence*

    What is that commentator DOING? She does a stunning 3a-3t right in his face and he goes on about the condition of the ice... =.=;;

  • The commentator is in la-la land. Scott Hamilton-love him or hate him he would have been drooling skategasms all over Midori's triple axel-triple toe combo.

  • He was nuts about the Russian gal named Elena.I can't remember her last name but she did skate in the last Winter Games. She was a great jumper.Scott called her a " firecracker ".

  • skategasms hahaha yeeesss that is my new favourite word

  • Lol-I wish I could claim the word as my own! I think I stole it off of a message board years ago-It is actually a play on 'gymgasms' for drool-worthy gymnastics moves. :-)

  • Haha the commentator is clueless, he has no idea what he just saw. To me that is right up there with Shizuka's triple-triple-triple.

  • Hooly crap - I love how she just cranks it off, no hesitation. Watching Emmanuel Sandhu sit on his damn edge for half an hour and then crumple is just embarassing after seeing that. Ta-Tt just sick. I dont't think any women (including mao asada) will ever do one that clean again.

  • if she still had skated now, she'd really kick ass

  • Perfect 3a3t

  • that was better than what most of the men did then, and still do now!

  • That was a little slice of heaven... absolutely amazing!

  • Simply a great triple axel.

  • OMG the height of that triple axel is mind-blowing!

  • What else can you say but simply "too good"??

  • amazing, and even more amazing is that the dimwitted commentator just kept on talking about wet ice

  • yeah, that idiot commentator. i hate it when some commentators in sports are too busy jibber-jabbering about nonsense that we the viewers don't care much to hear about while something amazing on the screen happens. hello!? what does "COMMENTATOR" mean?? get commenting! jeez. that idiot. blah blah wet ice this wet ice that.

  • hahahahaha! Yeah, you're absolutely right. Wet ice, this wet ice, oh, this wet ice, blah blah blah... Hello!? TRIPLE-AXEL - TRIPLE TOE LOOP combination right in front of you!

  • holy mother! OMG, she is soooooooo special.

  • WOW. This is the first time I've ever seen this! AMAZING. Better than most of the men!

  • And she was just warming up... @_@

That's my all time best female figure skater!

She seems like a real person, funny, dynamic and athletic! I'd like to see her nowadays =D

  • That triple axel combo was awesome!!! Her jumping is so effortless.

  • awesome

  • Wow

  • cot damn!!! 3Axel/3toe-loop just ridiculous. Ages ahead of her time.

  • damn!

  • Wow, that is just STELLAR.

  • It's a triple axel/triple toe combination. Surprised the commentator didn't say anything about it.
