  • In CS3, palettes were not overlapping maximised documents, which is something I really like. I just bought CS4, and it doesn't do that anymore -- it reverted to the old same behaviour I grew to hate with palettes overlapping my documents. Is there any way to change that screen view back to the way it was in CS3?

  • Don't bitch about the software when you're just gonna pirate it anyways. Good lord, people don't even appreciate the free shit they get anymore...

  • if it ain't broke...

  • That's why it needs to be fixed. It's broke.

  • So it can rotate nondestructively. Corel Painter is sooooo dead...

  • hahaha totally right!!

  • So it comes with numerous screen tiling options and a "hide background" option. Hold me back!

But seriously, from what I can tell, they're further screwing with a decent product so that marketing can say it has new stuff so they can do their 1.5 year upgrade whether there's enough new stuff to justify it or not. Hurray for marketing-driven companies! \o/

  • This is just one OPTION. You can have it either way. The old way or this way. Adobe's not forcing it on anyone, and they're not making changes for the sake of change, they think these things through and make changes from the requests of thousands of designers. Just remember, it's an option.

  • I hate spending much time in ImageReady multi-window export view. Now it looks as if Adobe is boasting about it. This is the "beating-a-dead-horse" syndrome by Adobe. Come on guys, you are #1 Macromedia is gone; just chill with this upgrade? Don't do it.

  • when after effects when from the old interface to a unified flex interface like this, it was the single best improvement they have made in the past 3 versions. if all adobe apps get this overhaul, it will be welcome in my books.

to all the "they release it to make money", no kidding, they are a huge software company and need to pay the bills just as you do and considering many commenters don't even buy a legit version, shut it, you will steal it anyway.

  • So people are getting angry over the fact that they are IMPROVING the interface?? They didn't change it much last time because they knew this would happen... people refusing to embrace change

and it's just a tab system... get over it :P

  • Well... all I've used is the demo of CS3... I didn't particularly like the interface they had in that. I'm very happy with the changes they're making.

  • I agree with the other comments, Adobe are just changing things for the sake of change. Why Adobe feel the need to have a complete interface redesign I'll never know but this is another reason why I'll be sticking to CS2. And my PowerPC.

  • Adobe is just hell bent on fucking with a good thing aren't they? It disgusts me to see the hideous direction the interfaces is going in, but more than that, it disappoints me that the last several versions of Photoshop have demonstrated nothing but dicking around with the interface. There are no new features because they spend all their time moving things around.

  • Now THAT is not true. Photoshop has grown alot since version 2 and it only has more room to grow.

  • that was there in the last version newb

  • nothing much changes.....adobe release just to make money ?!

  • Basically, thats all the updates are for just to add one little tool and change the interface. all for 1000$

  • swear.. why they dun change everything, add more tools and release cs 4 ?

  • Still has the RETARDED window pane backdrop which I hate.I want to see my desktop! CS3 for windows is worse at that than mac, which I use both so I still use CS2. If CS4 is locking the user into the windowed palette, I'll pass. Again.

  • From what I've read, this is turned on by default BUT can be easily turned back to the way it normally is for Macs which shows desktop. Chill pill, baby.

  • He has a right to be pissed off. It's a bullshit decision. But yes, they have said that it will be able to be disabled. Still, when they make things like this, you know that if you disable it there will be odd quirks and glitches that they didn't bother to fix because they only care about people who use defaults.

  • The only thing I've read is that the file windows can be stacked, but that they still float on the one window interface. So until we get more definitive screenshots or an actual beta, it doesn't look good. (to me anyways)

  • You can turn the backdrop on and off. They just made it an option because thousands of artists which hated it had whined and bitched and complained for years about it.

  • you should update dickwad

  • it looks so scary... but the tabs are grreat

  • way better

  • Dude, that sounds like some sort of fetish site. No Thanks.

  • loving the long toolbar on the side

  • lol thats already in cs 3

  • Thanks for offering this in CS4. I love tabbed documents. They help me quickly manage a series of inter-related documents for a single project.
