I saw this live at the Garden in NYC in 1977...AWESOME!!! The sound was incredible; spinning between 4 hugh speakers set up in the rafters going in one ear & out the other. 2nd best concert I ever saw tho...the best was in 1973 when I saw Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon and the burning airplane in Phila, PA. Their music will last forever. I applaud this generation for appreciating how great they were. My 19 yo son & his pals love Pink Floyd (smart kids for envying me too, lol).
I was also at this concert and what I remember is there was a light rain as the sun was setting and in the sky, behind the stage, a double rainbow appeared!

Holy shit, this was the day I was born. Neato. To think, I could've actually been squeezed out of my ma right when Gilmour hit the high note in the solo..

I was at that show... swear to god !!!! It rained before Floyd came on and there was this HUGE double rainbow... I remember it well... I was 19 years old... this is awesome footage for back in the day "home movies"... thanks for the post man... for real.
@gsisola I was there too. I also remember the double rainbow and how much the crowd was psyched. The floating dogs, sheeps and pigs were awesome. They also did DSOTM. I also remember a guy climbing to the top of the foul pole in the outfield. Everyone was waiting for him to fall and kill himself. I had seats in the infield, but I should have gotten onto the field. It was such a great show.....33 years ago.
Saw um in LA for Dark Side Of The Moon where Chief Gates tried to make it not happen. Saw them again do THE WALL in LA. Gates was out numbered and Jim Ladd God love him fired up a dubee in his honor to start the most amazing experience you could imgine. Then there was the home of the Angels tour billed as Wish You Were Here. After intermission came Animals and an awsome onchoir of Money.......Oh Yea....did I say anything about this coming November????We can only pray Rog and Dave come to amends.
Can we watch one vintage Pink Floyd video without the ensuing "Waters vs. Gilmour" BS that seems to always follows? They were great but they've gone seperate ways and have had they're own success. Just be grateful we've been blessed with their music and genius. Enjoy it for what it is.
I too was there! Epic show. I really had no idea what I was in for. The upper levels of the stadium were bouncing up and down about 8 inches. The pyrotechnics were amazing, only to be outdone by the exploding pig! Long live The Floyd!!!! Never will there be another band like them. Truly their own genre of music.
I was there!! At 16 it was really a trip to see the light show and all the blown up animals...and ofcourse the burning pigs!!...."Floating" through the crowd and meeting so many tripping people enjoying the show on such a beautiful evening!!!Special days and nights for sure!!

@YouRockRadiodotcom I so want to be you right now. I was born in the year PF stopped touring altogether so I'll never get to see them live. At least I'm going to see Waters this december.
@YouRockRadiodotcom i would call you grandpa but i think a more fitting name is ONE LUCKY SON OF A BI@*H!!!! lol man i was born in the month and year this was going on so i couldnt be there but damn what a show it must have been
@YouRockRadiodotcom ...LOL>>>>>>me too, dont feel bad, i WISH i would've been there. hard to find any footage on animals tour at least im havin a hard time, if anyone knows where to find it please post.
@YouRockRadiodotcom ...LOL>>>>>>me too, dont feel bad, i WISH i would've been there. hard to find any footage on animals tour at least im havin a hard time, if anyone knows where to find it please post. GREAT AUDIO ON THIS MY FRIEND!!! thanks for sharing
People have to understand....This tour was HUGE! I was 12 years old and I watched my brother and older cousins go berserk! This kind of tour will drive you mad! From a musical point of view it was obscene! Theses guys were playing to 70
To 100,00 people, the gates stopped counting after 80,000 I could not handle that type of atmosphere no way
@ummaguama Hell, I've been to one concert they did @ Ohio State in the horse shoe and sat in the parking lot just to listen to them you could hear them plain as day(Could Not Afford A Ticket)...I bet there was at least half the people in the parking lot that got in the Shoe to see them. Your right, people went beezerk over these guys. Still Do...
i went to this show no opening bands. instead they played echoes careful w/that axe and some other earlier songs over the pa i remember thinking that was kind of odd
animals is such a great record, but so underrated. i heard that gilmour and waters were so stressed out during the animals tour that they were such assholes to the audience sometimes, and this inspired the wall
I still remember buying this album in the 70's and slipping on my headphones. It was a heady experience for a 14 year-old. This CD is so, so dark and disturbing, but somehow I found comfort in the grooves.
Gilmour and Waters equally had a huge impact of what Pink Floyd was. Waters had the twisted lyrics and Gilmour had the palette of guitar riffs and tones that made Pink Floyd's sound so distinguishable. With either one of them missing it just isn't the same period.
@rockaires The mind of Waters consisted of WW2 and his childhood as the main concepts of his lyrics. He drove those ideas at the band for many years and they got sick of it. Yes he's a good lyricist and came up with interesting bass lines but it wasn't enough to make anything out of him and his whinny bitch attitude once he left the band. After he left I feel the band became very boring to listen to so it really shows how important all the members were in completing the sound.
WW2, his childood, the greed of our days, the lack of comunication betwwen people, the right wing power, his friendship with Barrett, the showbiz with its absence of quality are the themes in Waters mind among others, so...
If Waters was that great, he should have been more successful in his solo career, don't you think?
The Final Cut, which is said to be like a Water's solo album, isn't that great also.
Pink Floyd without him is different, but still good. Waters gave it a bit of insanity and audacity, but without Gilmour and Wright his ideas would never have been refined to a high musical standard.
The genuine Pink Floyd was those 4 working together at an equal level.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@afsartori Pink Floyd without Waters is only a name that sells a lot of records, lacks quality in sound and music. Any Waters solo album is way better than PF after 1983.
@clehneis i think you are forgeting the single fact that roger waters is the MAIN COMPOSER, not only the lyricist. Anyhow gilmour is the god of the 6string.
@laihoz I'm not forgetting anything. What success did Roger Waters have after Pink Floyd? He needed the rest of the band just as much as they needed him. David Gilmour and pink floyd is just too boring without Roger Waters, and Waters doesn't have much without them. That was their nitch and they never seemed to find another one. All good things come to an end and its not like the band ended prematurely. It is what it is. You are right though Waters was the composer.
@clehneis Who made you the expert on these guys? You are a tool. Just rambling to hear your own thoughts. I am so sick of people like you a self proclaimed expert.
We saw them live so many times we've lost count but it's somewhere between 22-25 times. Once we saw them live 4 nights in a row on Long Island NY in 1988. Fantastic!!! What a let down that 5th night...it was like, ok back to reality now.
I have the full Animals live album which includes most of Darkside and Wish You Were Here live, unfortunatley its just the Audio and the sound engineer didn't do them much justice, he made a lot of fuck ups, adding delay to the whole track instead of just one instrument etc. A few really disappointing mistakes by the sound guy, I'll put the abum on in the next few weeks though with a slideshow or something, its still well worth hearing, espacially when Roger and Dave burst out laughing
damn roger can fucking rock ...........the way he delivers is too good .......n daves guitar jus cries n blows me away.......tired n back from work n lisning this wow
I was at this concert ... they were messing around with two pigs ... one was pink the other looked like a real pig with red eyes lit with red lights ... we sat back and kinda pondered on what the hell are they doing ... then they sent the pink one up and all of a sudden BLAMMMMMM ... OMG! The crowd went bananas!
um there is a huge shade that went over the top and the stage was pretty dark ... back then they didnt have cameras like now so even if it was well lit u still had to use lights on ur camera
I want this video on my OT 735 phone.

@sixsixxsixxxx It was history in that the stagecraft for that tour was the most elaborate to date...it was also
the last major tour to include Roger Waters. I also had a conversation with a fan who had recorded material
of that concert and many believed it to be the best performance of the tour, Is this true? Maybe...maybe not. Prior to The Wall it was history...

I would happily miss out on the internet to have been born in the late 50's so I could go to 70's and 80's Floyd shows.

I too was there! Epic show. I really had no idea what I was in for. The upper levels of the stadium were bouncing up and down about 8 inches. The pyrotechnics were amazing, only to be outdone by the exploding pig! Long live The Floyd!!!! Never will there be another band like them. Truly their own genre of music.

i always found animals their coolest album beause it is so
obscure and less pleasant than the two predecessors.
it has some pretty strange and very original (except PIGS) music on it

People have to understand....This tour was HUGE! I was 12 years old and I watched my brother and older cousins go berserk! This kind of tour will drive you mad! From a musical point of view it was obscene! Theses guys were playing to 70
To 100,00 people, the gates stopped counting after 80,000 I could not handle that type of atmosphere no way
ummaguama 2 years ago 2
@ummaguama Hell, I've been to one concert they did @ Ohio State in the horse shoe and sat in the parking lot just to listen to them you could hear them plain as day(Could Not Afford A Ticket)...I bet there was at least half the people in the parking lot that got in the Shoe to see them. Your right, people went beezerk over these guys. Still Do...

animals is such a great record, but so underrated. i heard that gilmour and waters were so stressed out during the animals tour that they were such assholes to the audience sometimes, and this inspired the wall
theocean1973 2 years ago
I still remember buying this album in the 70's and slipping on my headphones. It was a heady experience for a 14 year-old. This CD is so, so dark and disturbing, but somehow I found comfort in the grooves.

Waters was the main force of PF.
Peace.
rockaires 2 years ago
Gilmour and Waters equally had a huge impact of what Pink Floyd was. Waters had the twisted lyrics and Gilmour had the palette of guitar riffs and tones that made Pink Floyd's sound so distinguishable. With either one of them missing it just isn't the same period.
clehneis 2 years ago 35
@clehneis Agreed but you can see that all the great ideas and concepts came from the mind of Waters.
Peace.
rockaires 2 years ago
@rockaires The mind of Waters consisted of WW2 and his childhood as the main concepts of his lyrics. He drove those ideas at the band for many years and they got sick of it. Yes he's a good lyricist and came up with interesting bass lines but it wasn't enough to make anything out of him and his whinny bitch attitude once he left the band. After he left I feel the band became very boring to listen to so it really shows how important all the members were in completing the sound.
clehneis 2 years ago
WW2, his childood, the greed of our days, the lack of comunication betwwen people, the right wing power, his friendship with Barrett, the showbiz with its absence of quality are the themes in Waters mind among others, so...
rockaires 2 years ago
True.
clehneis 2 years ago
If Waters was that great, he should have been more successful in his solo career, don't you think?
The Final Cut, which is said to be like a Water's solo album, isn't that great also.
Pink Floyd without him is different, but still good. Waters gave it a bit of insanity and audacity, but without Gilmour and Wright his ideas would never have been refined to a high musical standard.
The genuine Pink Floyd was those 4 working together at an equal level.
That's my opinion.
afsartori 2 years ago

@afsartori Pink Floyd without Waters is only a name that sells a lot of records, lacks quality in sound and music. Any Waters solo album is way better than PF after 1983.
Peace.

you said it perfect!!

@clehneis Yeah. Can't imagine Page doing git. Or Plant the voice.
geojoey15 1 year ago
@clehneis i think you are forgeting the single fact that roger waters is the MAIN COMPOSER, not only the lyricist. Anyhow gilmour is the god of the 6string.
laihoz 1 year ago
@laihoz I'm not forgetting anything. What success did Roger Waters have after Pink Floyd? He needed the rest of the band just as much as they needed him. David Gilmour and pink floyd is just too boring without Roger Waters, and Waters doesn't have much without them. That was their nitch and they never seemed to find another one. All good things come to an end and its not like the band ended prematurely. It is what it is. You are right though Waters was the composer.

OMG! The crowd went bananas!
