A beast? Hardly. It suffered from massive design faults, primarily its size and shape. It just simply isnt designed to go over the sort of terrain expected on the WW1 western front, the image at 1.37 proves what happens to the A7V in rough ground. Also its tall profile made it a perfect target for field guns.
An epic fail of a tank, the Germans had far more success using ones captured from the allies.
This tank sucked performance wise. It was generally all round failure. Slow, not reliable in rough terrain, weak armor, weak firepower and huge crew (was it like 16 people?) all this made it horrible tank. Apparently German learned their lesson with this tank and their WW2 tanks were top-notch.
@DelLagos666 Not very impressing, don't get me wrong, it's a great tank, but in not even 100 years every1 made amazing progress. from black&white foto's, to full HD 3d movies.
@DelLagos666: When looking at the stock Leopard 2, it took about 61 years.
If the Germans used diesel engines back then (or in WW2 for that matter), the war could have ended differently. Imagine that has two massive 17 liter engines with 200 HP combined. Comparable to two Volkswagen Polo 1.6 TDI engines which have to propel half the weight of an average European house.
wtf

Wasn't a very successful tank to be honest, but in those days seeing this thing coming towards your trench would have been terrifying

@WouterNed For me it is very fascinating, because not many other war machines have developed so quickly and become so important as the tank.
