hello, good info! i support this idea 100% However i would like to add. virgin & extra virgin are terms used mainly for oliveoil, and are related the acidlevel of the oil. It is a quality measurement for olive-oil, and has been adapted blindly in a commercial way for coconutoil, but fairly has nothing to do with coconutoil and hence can not be applied to coconutoil. In other words, there is no difference in virgin coconutoil and extra virgin coconutoil and regular coconutoil, safe your money ;)
The best place to purchase real and inexpensive coconut oil is at indian/pakistani grocery stores. This culture has been using coconut oil in their hair for years, (applying everyday, all day, from when they're young to their old age) and you can see that they have the best results with their thick, healthy hair. You will be paying no more than $10. I don't know why people are paying so much for this stuff.
Could I use coconut oil as a heat protector if I am flat ironing my hair?? I know that certain oils provide heat protection. Is a straightening spray necessary if I have coconut oil in my hair?
hey, I got really dry skin in the winter and wrinkles are starting to appear under my eyes and Im only 33, do you think this could help prevent aging?? I tried everything (facial masks, thick creams) and nothing seems to be working....
Hi i have a question...so i recently found out i have oily/combination skin which is the cause of my occasionally acne. With that being said can i still use coconut oil on my face? Sounds silly but i need to know. :)
Hi - coconut oil contains lots of nutrients inclusing lauric acid and vitamin E. This helps nourish the skin and can help blocked sebum glands that cause acne. You could try to apply a little bit of coconut oil sparingly on acne. Drink lots of water to help flush toxins out of the skin.
Hi if you have the choice or want to be completely puritanical - cold pressed. Because no heat is used to extract the oil. But expeller is perfectly fine - still a natural oil and SO MUCH BETTER than commercially produced products that use artificial ingredients.
hi :) i have a question about using coconut oil on the face to cure or eliminate acne. i recently bought extra virgin organic coconut oil to use on my face to see if it would help with eliminating my acne. i've been using it at night time, but i think it made it worse :'( i got more acne now? is that normal? should i keep using it? will it really help with my acne? or is there another method? please i would really appreciate any advice :)
Hi, it's rare 2 get an adverse reaction from coconut oil. If thought of a reaction bothers you I would recommend test patch e.g. inside of your arm. Coconut oil for acne isn't a quick fix but effects can be steady. Also be mindful of your diet - greasy foods can encourage acne. Zinc rich diet (shellfish, wholegrains) is good for skin as it is anti-bacterial n can help acne. Drink lots water. Clean face thoroughly before bedtime; change pillow sheets often; oil from face can end up on pillow.
thank you soo much for replying :) :) :)thanks for all the info! now that you mention the drinling of water??? thats something that i dont do as much as before!!! before i use to drink lots and lots of water! in the last 6 months or so i started drinking coffee (about 3-4 cups a day) which is new for me because i use to not like the taste of coffee but then one day i just seemed to like. and now i hardly drink any water anymore! could that have an affect on why ive been breaking out like crazy?
@tinytoma25 I'm not a dermatologist but it seems to me that skins that are prone to acne are skins that are oily so applying coconut oil would make your face even oilier. A tablespoon of Jojoba oil mixed with several drops of tea tree oil might be a solution as they make sure that your skin is not producing too much or too little oil. Tea tree oil would penetrate your pores and clean them. Your face will fill so fresh after.
@emeraude312 thank you so much for your feedback on coconut oil and how to try jojoba oil and tea tree oil! :) ever since i stopped using the coconut oil my face it started clearing up a little, but i still have some acne left :'( im going to give the jojoba oil and tea tree oil a try and see if that helps :) thank you sooo much!
@tinytoma25 hey did your skin get better? or did you stop using it? I used it for alittle over a month now, and i stopped a day ago because i started getting these tiny whiteheads and i get them everyday, ugh just pissing me off, will they go away???
@BurnKilluminati hello! unfortunately using extra virgin coconut oil did not work for me the way i hoped it would :'( it actually made me break out more! i stopped using it and eventually my skin did clear up of those little whiteheads you speak of. my skin is a lot clearer now, but i still get a break out every now and then. i switched to using 100% Tea Tree Oil as a spot treatment and that did help! Another thing i did was drink A WHOLE LOT OF WATER!!! I swear! drinking a lot of water helps!
@BurnKilluminati This is quite commom with coconut oil and most people find that there is an adjustment period. Since coconut oil is antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral etc. I'm thinking it's just doing its job and all the waste is coming out of your skin. Although I do not have acne, I have found that when i started using coconut oil, i would get tiny little bumps, but with continued use it has disappeared.
I just bought some KTC oil mainly for use on my hair, however i am a little sceptical as KTC is refined...is it still safe enough to use all over the body?
KTC coconut oil is not virgin oil, and this is reflected in the price. I use it on the body and it is safe. Compared to all the chemically induced mass marketed 'skin care' products with a list of synthetic ingredients as long as your arm, this coconut oil wins hands down.
Hi there, I agree that KTC is not virgin oil, as the same size tub of virgin coconut oil is nearly 10 pounds!! plus iv got KTC at home and also a certified organic virgin coconut oil. KTC oil doesnt smell or even taste like coconut compared to the virgin oil which has really strong smell and a hint of coconut taste. so I recommend people to buy the virgin one instead.
So if i'm a 14 year old girl and i have really mild and ocasional acne and some dry patches on my face, can I massage this into my skin for about 5 minutes then wash my face at night? Because I've been doing this with virgin coconut oil from a health food store and I'm wondering if it'll do anything lol, Also would this reduce redness in my exzema on my leg?
I would say to keep going with the coconut oil. I would leave it on your face at night, on the specific dry patches. It can also help reduce irritation from skin conditions. With excema it coconut oil can help reduce inflammation. Apply sparingly and often.
Thank you for getting back to me. Well the problem I'm having discoloration from the acne. I seeking a even skin tone , I was helping that you can help me with lighten up the acne scars natural . Does coconut oil help with discoloration problems, will coconut oil help give me a even complexion.
Hi, coconut oil is very good for the complexion and can help treat all scars. I would prob recommend rosehip seed oil more for acne scars - can be use undiluted on skin or in a cream. It absorbs v well & doesn't make the face shiny.
I enjoyed your video, its has given me information on the benefits of coconut oil, and other uses . I would like if you would give me more information for skin cares uses..My skin looks like a hot mess HELP PLZ
i warm it up and put it on the ends of my thick hair then wrap it in clingfilm and leave on all night, then wash my hair & condition as normal in the morning. leaves it so soft and healthy!! also i use it on my eyelashes it stops them falling out as much and therefore makes them thicker!

I will try it on a child I know with psoriasis. how would it do for baby's nappy rash? I will certainly explore it
golddragnet 2 years ago
Nappy rash is an inflammation of the skin ands so a small amount of coconut oil should help ease the skin irritation.
