I dont know why you post it but You have nothing to worrr cuz It NEEDED to communcation for someone to talk to or need help interpeter, I thank you for joining and to have fun social with HH/deaf people
I want to learn ASL because I have terrible hearing I don't know what people say have the time and its not because I don't pay attention it's because I have poor hearing, so I worry I will lose my hearing and I want to learn ASL I already know some signs. But I understand for some people that just do it to make fun of deaf people isn't funny.
I would love it if this was captioned unfortunately I am not very advanced in ASL and only got as far as Hi, my name is and the a couple of the letters of your name :) but I like the way you say hi i learned it differently
Id be so happy...... that way more more student will learn its deaf culter and whats more we get to commuacate with asl students where ever we go itd be awesome IM deaf and using asl your signings GRREEAATT champ!!!!
well i deaf i wear posser which it help me hear things and i do asl little and english sign as well cuz i like half and half instead whole cuz u might meet diffenert person who is half asl and english but i think u do 50\50 of them
i like ASL students if they are serious about signing, not if they just need language so they just pick ASL to just pass with the lowest grade possible. in my college there is one ASL student i don't really like to sign with, but others i will sign with because they treat me like normal person. the one i don't like she always treats me like she is my mom or has to protect me or that i don't know anything. so typically i like ASL students if they are serious and treats me as equal.
I myself have been hard of hearing since age 5, but have been "legally deaf" since 15(due to surgery) I am an ASL student learning more signs so that I can communicate better. I think it is great that you correct people who sign, if not then they would never know they are doing it wrong
:( I don't know sign language so I wish there had been subtitles or had been able to read lips. I want to learn but not good yet. I understood "Hi", "thank you" and "bye" :(
I'm losing my hearing a bit every day so learning ASL is extremely important to me as it will be my main means of communication. I hope that other Deaf people will be gracious and help me perfect my signing. :)
I'm in ASL 1 and i've developed such a love for ASL !! .. but I was disapointed that I couldn't understand some of what you said , but i'm happy i understood some and i'm SUPER excited to learn some more sign language
i am deaf and i have hearing aids but im the girl that hides them in cuz in middle school people would make fun of me and pick on me so now that im in highschool i just wear my hair down only my friends know i was born with them and it who i am but its holdin me back from things like i never had a true love where i live theres no deaf people in my school and i always wanted to go to a deaf school where i can fit in and be accepted for who i am, living in this kind of life is pretty diffcult
I am a coda (child(ren) of deaf adults), and I love my parents dearly. I am thankful that I grew up in a deaf home. I am now learning ASL in college, as I want to become an interpreter for the deaf/hard of hearing. I had no formal classes in ASL until now. Even though sign language is my first language, I have a lot to learn. I would hope that the deaf community would accept me as just a regular person, regardless of my ability to hear.
I'm a ASL fluent hearing gay man. I live in NYC...I'd have to say at least 50% of my friends here are Deaf and gay! I don't really like hearing people, either! :)
@HaleJayRo - Just a feeling I have....My Deaf friends seem much more loyal than my hearing friends. Could be just an anomaly, people are just people whether Deaf or hearing, but for some reason I prefer their company to my hearing friends when I have to make a choice about what to do!?
Most ASL students are cool. The more people that know ASL, the more opportunities we (as defies) have for "open communication". I personally will correct an ASL student (or anyone learning sign for that matter) on signs and will try to answer any questions they may have. I learned ASL at Gallaudet (went deaf at age 12 but didn't learn sign until Gally) and I felt very frustrated when people would say "Oh I know what you mean" rather than correct my sign. So I make it a point to teach others.
@ndlamont01 You went to school at Gallaudet? I'm reading about that in triumph of the spirit ... i'm an ASL Student. It's very intersting. I'm enjoying the class.
It depends on deaf people, I'm deaf and I personally don't like to teach ASL, not that I am selfish. It's because I can communicate with people pretty much well. I can read lips and I help my friends. Many of my friends are in ASL class and they were taught wrong so I stepped up and to help them to understand what is the right sign.
will if u live in north all the deaf people have to know asl not esl when deaf are born they cant learn esl in a west it dose not matter if u know esl or asl here in a north they cant sign esl :( becuse there a lot deaf people that know asl here in a north i don know about the south?
@ndlamont01 it kind a like asl but it diffend sign in north they use to sign esl but the deaf people want to chang esl to asl beucse deaf people cant unstand hearing english with esl so they want there own language beucsue back then long long time ago the deaf school like here in maine long time ago the teacher use to abuse deaf childing and the deaf can't go home on the weekend only on the holidays. so that is why they want to chagn esl to asl esl it kind a same but diffend language.
@yourhappydreamworld ok in the west the language is little diffend form north like i can not or i can't do this. can u see the diffend? it kind like esl. esl i can not , asl i can't not do this, can u unstand?
@INSIDEOUT2727 She signs her name, then her sign name, then she's asking if Deaf people accept helping out hearing students who are studying ASL or if it bothers them.
