@crisss2001 To be honest the US fighters are not as strong right now as previous US teams have been. Jean is a good coach and so is Juan Moreno. Good teams are cyclical, and every country goes through ups and downs on the world level.

@pawnworks Sport Taekwondo in my opinion is a faster, more technical, more dynamic culmination of Taekwondo. Boxing, Judo, Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, and Freestyle/Greco-Roman wrestling are all sports, yet I don't see anyone saying, "Hey, I want to see how Jimmy Pedro (JUDO), Manny Pacquiao (BOXING), or Cael Sanderson (WRESTLING), or Royce Gracie (BJJ), demonstrate their skills in street defense." The bottom line is even though these are all sports, they are all street capable disciplines.

Seems like good news that a Taekwondo athlete will be representing Peru in the 2008 Olympic Games for the first time. Unfortunately this athlete has lived most of his life in the U.S., trains with Controversial 2x Olympic Gold Medalist and World Champ Steven Lopez (and the rest of the Lopez clan) and until the United States Taekwondo Organization had a major over-haul Peter Lopez (no relationship to the above Steven Lopez and family) was a member of the U.S. Team.

I would be celebrating if it were one of the other members or if Peter Lopez hadn't joined the Peruvian National Team for his own selfish motives.

Don't get me wrong, my husband personally knows him, he's still friends with him, even offered him a place to stay when he came down to do a seminar in Peru. He (Peter Lopez) took advantage of the situation and is accomplishing what he's always dreamed of as an athlete.

The Federation has never had a history of extending this same courtesy to their veteran athletes or ANY of their athletes for that matter. In fact the OTHER athletes have to raise their own funds in order to travel and compete and they are not paid a monthly stipend from the Federation for being on the National Team.

Big brother Steven is without doubt among the best in the sport.His outstanding international achievements and consistency give credence to that statement.However,he takes the brunt of much criticism for his arrogance,his knack for winning ugly,and his lack of genuine respect and appreciation for fellow competitors.Hadi Saei and Moon Dae Sung,two of the most accomplished athletes in this sport deserve more credit than Steven for their incredible humility.

Diana does not impress me.She has lots to prove still.Every time i watch her fight even I feel insecure for her.She always looks nervous and can't control the game.So far,she hasn't faced up against much stiff competition,especially that from Asia.Maybe if she did she wouldn't be where she is today.Consistent wins against tough Asian opponents (especially those from the Middle East) will prove her worth.

Mark is young and has a bright future laid out ahead for him in this sport.But he is still inexperienced and not a proven match-winner.Anyone who watched his final match in the '05 world c'ships would tell you that he did not win that match on his own merit but rather tragically,due to an embarrassing refreeing error that cruelly robbed the more dominant Korean opponent of his.

Mark and Diana are inexperienced, they have other fighters much better and experienced fights currently for their weight division who could do some damage for Team USA

I do not like this team cause they dominated taekwondo and whole family exploited it as national team they do not gave chance to other as player of game. i am good player but they will not give me chance to prove it cause they want thier family in the team. horrible

I am so impressed with these kids! They're a perfect example of america. They're mexican american, they're well spoken, educated, inteligent, funny, quick witted, Don't speak with spanish accents, they're champions etc.... This is a perfect example of what america should be.
