  • Thumbs up for Fantasia 2012

  • This video went viral on Jerusalem*

  • Divina

  • This thing's awesome. Who can say no to classical music, or disney for that matter?

  • je ne parle pas anglais mais j'adore cette film! c'est mon favorite film! j'aime musique qui n'as pas mots!

  • esta es una sinfonía muy bonita

a mi hermano y a mi no s gusta adoro esta sinfonía

  • Am I the only one that hated this movie? When I was a kid I thought this was extremely boring... And I like classical music, but not to watch it like a movie...

  • me encanta!

  • Not even Disney can give a black man a cab :S

  • i luv this soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much its so cute and funny

  • Finally let the world here some real music not that fake autotune bullshit.

  • brilliant

  • The good old days when Disney didn't suck...

  • 10:22 Is because he's black. 1920's=no civil rights movement yet.

  • The best song in fantazia2000.

  • Is that Gershwin at 6:04 ?

  • @potpourri360 Yes he is! :)

  • @potpourri360 Yes he is! :)

  • trabalho incrível... sem comentários

    incredible piece...

  • At 6:00, Wouldn't you rather take lessons from Gershwin than some random lady?

Well, unless that lady was Toshiko Akiyoshi

  • At 6:00, Wouldn't you rather take lessons from Gershwin than some random lady?

  • Gershwin is genial, just like most of Jewish people

  • merci

  • simplemente, genial

  • I like how the title is obviously not in English, yet this music is a universal language.

  • yeah

  • Este tema es uno de los mejores que he escuchado en mi vida. Lo escucho una y otra vez, y nunca me canso.

  • That is beautiful

  • I can't stop smiling while watching this ! :D It's just beautiful !

THIS is the Magic of Disney. Not Hannah Montana.

  • This is a piece of animation genius. I had never really thought before about what animators do and how. This seems as though Bernstein wrote the score for the cartoon. Wonderful and even timely.

  • The words origional pronunciation is fantu zia

  • the ice skating part is always so beautiful. <3

  • 3:25-3:33: eight seconds of genius music

  • the music and the drawings are just incredible!!!

  • ummmm... this is not right. the beginning does not go as high as it is supposed to... just saying

  • @bynjaimyn

Yeah it does, it does sort of sound different, but it definitely goes as high as it's supposed to. If it didn't, then it would be in an entirely different key, which it's not in.

  • I have always enjoyed Herschfeld's caracatures, and Gershwin did him justice in my opinion.

  • me facina =D

  • brilliant

  • ... and a great protrait of life itself... in the end, one never knows what could come from the next corner... keep dreaming!... probably you will get your dreams to be true.

  • Is this a freakin' marvel or what???... Gershwin was certainly inspired. A marvelous song and a great animation... a good portrait of the "crazy 20's".

  • That was Gershwin @ 6:00, wasn't it? *grin* Gotta love it when the animators pay homage to a genius.

  • The genius of George Gershwin. The genius of Al Hirshfeld. The genius of Disney animators (before they sold out). This is awfully close to perfection.

  • Everytime I watch this, tears come to my eyes. Just beautiful.

  • @GroovieBuff Me too!! It's so damn beautiful!!!

  • it's fun how they actually all helped each other with their dream without even knowing

  • I got goosebumps because this song was so beautiful! I LOVE IT! ;')

  • in a spectacular manner, this short film demonstrates that no matter what the circumstances are, we can always reach our goals one way or another.

Were it so easy in real life...

  • @C3P0meetsData uh YEAH they sorta did xD

  • Thank you!

  • I cried so much while watching this.

  • beautiful

  • This gave me chills.

  • Gershwin, un grande entre los grandes de la música.

Un ángel en el cielo del Señor.

    Gracias por haber existido.

  • the bst in fantasia 2000 ^^

  • Im learning this on piano. About 3/32 pages done :P

  • @Scrabblet2 Where'd you get the sheet music?

  • @spaztaastic I ordered it from this local Music Store called Jack's Music Shoppe.

  • @Scrabblet2

    Geez, good luck...

  • oh my god....

    i cried a bit. :')

  • Woah, Woah, Woah! Did they just skip like, 5 minutes of the piece at 6:00?????!!!!

  • Yeh i thought so as well

  • @C3P0meetsData I wouldnt think so

  • The best thing that Disney ever did for the world: FANTASIA!

  • This story told us , that by making a good desition we can change many things

Man1 quit--> man2 gets job--> man tries to get a cab and get a wooden vehicle -->the girl's ball bonces with man1-->ball bounces with the girl's parents office--> Girl parents save her--> ma who got th job takes nagging wife --> man3 makes his dream dancing w/girls--> man1 plays in the band of dancing girls---> parents learn a lesson --> everybody is happy! (except the nagging wife :P )

  • This animation always uplift me. It's amazing how it depicts the existencial drama of our own lives as something we sometimes think is imposed on us but more often than not is of our own choice; how it tells about the innate capabilities of human beings to turn their lifes to better, whether by outside events or simply by changing of mind; and how it shows that chance links us to one another in very special ways.

  • the policeman!!!! this is an universal image....of corruption. el policia!!!!! esta es una imagen universal.... de la corrupción

  • @userFromChip it seems really simplistic and like graphic artsy. I love it so much! this is one of my favorite pieces in fantasia 2000

  • the musician's my favourite

  • I was kind of annoyed when the Essentially Ellington festival for high school jazz bands used this as an audition song...it loses a lot of its character when a bari sax plays the clarinet solo and there's no orchestra.

Only thing i've ever seen that beats Inception, if you know what I mean.

  • I saw this when I was young. This is what inspired me to go into music, and to play the clarinet. <3

  • I love this video <3 The music, the animation, the story, EVERYTHING <3

More importantly, the daughter, the un-employed man and the red haired guy has to thank the musician xD If it wasn't by his desicion, everyone would be the same, except for the daughter that she could have died o-o

I love this story more than nothing because it tells you to take the chance when you see it x3 (Everyone except the daughter)

  • wats the 1st instrument heard in the song

  • @ricepoper Clarinet. I believe the long slide up is performed by holding keys half down and having good control.

  • @ricepoper Clarinet.

  • is george gerswin at 6:03????

  • me encanta dice mucho

  • this is not only "fantasia", but true GENIUS

  • I wish I could rate it 5*! Excellent animation and a wonderful song!

  • George Gershwin Is A Genius. No wonder he is called "The Greatest American Artist"

  • I cried !!! is a beautiful animation !!!

  • I prefer the time where the people are in the subway! With the music and with their face!

  • Esta buenidimo el video tambien la cancion de fondo todo concordaba en los movimientos

    gracias por compartirlo

  • Me da la impresión que es por momentos una crítica al capitalismo y por otros una apología al mismo.

  • hoooooooooo jaime troo

  • Videos like this make me proud to be a New Yorker.

    :D

  • i also imagine New York when i hear this song, and i've never been there, its strange.

  • @frenchkitty big city ain't all its cracked up to be

  • BIGEST SHIT EVAAAAR!!!!

  • La puta madre, tengo que ver esta garcha para el colegio

  • yo lo tenia en video...

  • gorgeous, extremely well done all around. beautiful arrangement, and the visual

  • this is amazing!!!!

  • I cry everytime the parents save their daughter

  • @artgeek707 same

  • My favorite part of Fantasia 2000 :)

I love this song! Thank God for Gershwin! :D

  • Id love 2 live in that time era...but you know skip the Great Depression

  • @MyHeavySac Yeah. If I could just be born in like, 1910, live untill the end of the 20's and come back again in the 60's and still be in my early 20's by 2004, that would be great.

  • :'D

I love this so much, my favorite video ever :3

  • QUE PRECIOSAS LINEAS......THE LINE KING......AL HIRSCHFELD.....DESCANSE EN PAZ...........PURISMO Y PULCRITUD......GENIO.

  • 6:06 The artist even got the exact keys right... Wow...

  • I love this sequence of Fantasia 200 =)

  • @Erele68 Me too, my favorite bit.

  • the police took the apple without payin

  • The style reminds me of Hirschfeld. <3

  • this is breath taking, makes me feel like im in a big city on the move ;) hahaha

  • LOL! People are all cramped in the subway. 3:35

  • Absolutely amazing.

  • Love this song!!

  • a child who wants more time with her parents, and not do so many activities

a man who wants to persue music career, and leave his job

a man who wants a job, and cant get one

and a man who wants to be himself, not like how his wife says to be

  • @silvernsilver11111 that would mean something if you could use correct grammar lol

  • Comment removed

  • @silvernsilver11111

Are you a wizard? How were you able to understand that?!

  • @lucaslmgv Its kinda easy... watch each part individually, watch the facial expressions of each and listen to the dramatic music. Actions speak louder then words. If you take time you can realize it. The guy who needed the job, notice how he couldnt pay for his own coffee and had to take from a man who dropped one, how he tried to steal a small apple and how happy he was to get the other guys job at night "since he seems to be a night time kinda guy" as well. Its all about the actions

  • @silvernsilver11111

    You really can't tell irony!

  • @lucaslmgv i think you cant tell what REAL irony is...

if the question was a joke its sarcasam....

    not irony

  • @silvernsilver11111

    Yeah, you're probably right.

Anyways the question was a joke because you only stated the obvious in your first comment.

  • @lucaslmgv and guess what, alot of people STILL dont get it..... its there for those people.... not you who actually get simple symbolism and can understand actions without hearing words....

  • Awesome love making music, gets me into the mood every time! ;)

  • How COULD this be racist? They're all blue and purple!

  • q bElL0___

  • 5:01 Nom

  • this isn't even the original! the music has been transposed up a semi tone!I am playing this and was following the music, they also cut out a bunch of piano solos.

  • @LuckyB107 I understand what your saying, I am also learning this song. I own 2 versions of this song. The one you are learning is probably the version of the song that Gershwin wrote a few years later after writing the origional version of the song in 1924. The version that Fantasia used was the 1924 version.

  • great music, great film ( :

  • EXQUISITE! Falls right in line with Disney's original concept for Fantasia[s]: Forget those (so called) "musical experts"! What would the 'common man' envision in a piece of music.

  • EXQUISITE! Falls right in line with Disney's original concept: 'Forget what the (so called) "expert" thinks ... what might the 'common man' envison.'

  • great music...

    emotions

  • Anyone who says that this is racist is a racist. Moving on.

This interpretation of the piece is fantastic, and it helps me out too, since my HS orchestra will be playing it in France in 2011. It helps me visualize the story Gershwin was trying to tell.

  • @11:45: I love how the blue dude just leaves the bratty wife hanging there! XD

That poor husband. He was so whipped! :(

  • Rascist?! Not by a long shot! It's an inspiring video, where in the end it all works out for EVERYONE! Great movie, Great animation, make for a great expirience!

  • beatiful, I love it!!! I love Fantasia 2000, nice work, nice music!!! (:D

  • lol i find this video amazing/// parody of real life

  • haha the couple with the dog reminds me of my dad and step mom...she loves to spoil her dog so much

  • who says this is rasist i dont get it what part is whomever believes that is an idiot

  • i like how disney uses animation to expose people to classic music also its not so bad when they abridge the pieces because it tends to lend to the overall impact of the animation so its not just the original music that makes an impact its the combination

  • such an awesome piece with a great cartoon, supporting it. I love it

  • Gershwin is a true American genius. This is pure art. The music combined witht he imagery of Disney is greater than most of today's music combined!

  • i like that cool monkey

  • He's not black! He's purple!

  • This is such a beautiful depicition of either Harlem or New York City- I love how the music breathes such life into truly amazing animation. The Jazz Age will forever live on because of things such as this- when Disney created art, and not pop stars.

  • WHOA, that's really weird, for some reason this video has all the pitches raised from the original. I'm guessing it's because of either the program used to upload it onto the computer or YouTube's uploader. It sounds really interesting in a different key though ^_^;;

  • Majestuoso , majestic , majestueux , maestoso , majestoso , majestätisch !

  • Darn cabs...won't stop for a brother...

  • @catbag2 thts funny

  • i love this :D

  • Pilates Is Harder Than ItLooksGrab The Bull By The Horn

  • This is about dreams, nothing is racist. This about how the dream come true! :D i love it!

  • Maravilloso!!!! No me canso de escucharlo!!!

  • yeah- its from 1924. A lot of people interpret it to be the depression. Always thought it was about the roarin 20s

  • Its supposed to be the 30's or at least that is what it says in the little booklet that came with the DVD. The song its self however was composed in 1924.

  • Great piece of music and great animation by Disney. Love 5:00 to 6:00.

  • Kindofguitarish, the reference is that no one can get a taxi in New York City...I know I've tried & I'm not a young African-American male....God bless them, I don't know how cab drivers make a living in NYC, they don't seem to run with a lot of fares..... I just love the music and the storyline is very 1940's-ish

  • Sorry, it's not 1940: it's 1920!

    ;-)

  • Or is it 1930? With the Great Depression, the reason why there were no jobs?

  • there are jobs. just that the people in their positions just aren't happy. It could be the GD but there isn't enough evidence to actually say that. Only one guys is actually poor there... everyone else has other problems. The actual worker doesn't even want to work, he wants to play music.

  • i know the song was written in the late 1920s, so putting it to a story line of the great Depression would make sense

  • ah nvm the title is rhapsody in blue in spanish look at the last word azul is blue in spanish i can remember

  • I can relate myself to the little girl. When I was growing up I played alot of sports, along with tutoring sessions, dance lessons, and singing lessons I rarely had a chance to have fun with my family

  • I never saw this before, but I am pretty sure 10:22 is alluding to the fact that black people are usually ignored by taxi drivers.

  • Yes, and so are purple people.

  • The married guy with the red hair reminds me of my last relationship. My girlfriend could never laugh at anything, especially not herself. Being with her was so dreary and boring. We had an ugly breakup, but boy was it worth it.

  • @loqutor maybe a crane should took her too.... that way you wouldn´t had to breakup her

    ja :D

  • How our dreams skate gracefully on the thin ice, how wonderful our illusions dance on it

love how everything turns out well for these heroes, the common people =)

  • Congratulations, it's fantastic! It had to be cartoons! is the best I've seen

  • 6:04 to 6:10 , he looks like Vladimir Horowitz

  • its supposed to be George Gershwin, i'm pretty sure

  • I believe this is Rhapsody in Blue, so, yet, Gershwin.

  • @zag001a

mabe its rhapsody in blue in spanish?

  • @amphibian200 it is they say so in the little segment before this plays in the movie.

  • @amphibian200 Yeah, thats a definite Gershwin caricature

  • This interpretation is so amazing! Especially since it takes place in New York City. Its so fitting!
