i just saw a pack of matchbox cars for sale at my local petrol station and in that pack was a 67 cam painted up like this beast! WTF?!??! wrong wheels and no spoiler tho!
Was hoping someone had the info on the time smokey took a 1984 fiero and got it to get 54mpg, would like to send it to all the so called experts and economist, with all there degrees, and all the talk radio and t.v.s shows.Any one knows where this info or article is?
Don't know... but I have also (in 2006, previous amelia island concours) seen Smokey Yunick's DMC12 Delorean which was #2 built and had his engine work done to it with its secret turbo/intake system.
YES!!!THATS EXACTLY WHY I JUST SEARCHED HIM HERE!its Hot Rodding magazine from 1984.month im not sure.I remember that article well.200"naturally aspirated"HP AND 50 mpg.the cover says "Smokeys incredible hot air engine"Your library will copy the article for you.key to the efficiency"cracking"the gas heating it to425 deg F and mixing with air before it goes in the engine" so it burns IN the engine"not the exhaust.cleaner too.
theres also articles on that concept in Home Power magazine. They were making lawnmower engines run longer on less gas with the same or similar concept.Rumor was it was done on jeeps in North Afrika in WWII.good luck!
@hairles That article was out of an old car magazine presumably HOTROD. I even have the 'zine lying around somewhere if i stumble across it ill let you know a definitive answer. the overall concept was about fuelc harge temperature, very interesting theories regarding optimal temperature for gasoline atomization etc
google his name and there is alot of stuff on him and what he did

he custom built a set of hemispherical heads for this 302 which made it one wicked motor.

600? isn't that a bit optimistic, even with smokey yunick? I think its closer to 480-500... BUT I could be wrong.

info on Smokeys adiabatic engine can be found in 83 or 85? Popular Science or Mechanics??dont remember corectly now.
also try eng-tips com forums
the secret is its coated pistons and combustion chambers with ceramics to prevent meltdown.
its incoming air and fuel is preheated to about 900*.thats what gives it efficiency.
