  • i just used our mimaki plotter to cut resist material and the issue i had was that the even though i had the resist lined up straight when i started the material skewed somewhat while it was cutting. don't know if the physical weight of the material and the fact that i was cutting 90" of it was the problem or the fact that the back of the material against the plotter was so slippery. maybe i need to put transfer tape on the backing material so it's not so slick...

  • I've used vinyl in the machine for cutting out a few signs etc. I kept the same blade in and adjusted the pressure so that it was very low. However I think if I changed the blade to one with not as sharp an angle (I didn't know they were available at the time) it would cut it alot better. I have a laser etching machine that I use for doing fine etches into granite and tiles, works a lot better than the sand blaster.

  • have you ever used plain vinyl? would that work? I want to buy a sandblaster but I'm not finding enough info. I need to do this on a large tile surface for a community entrance monument sign.

  • Thanks for the visuals. Perhaps you could explain something about settings used etc?
