Its a nice camera but needs to be in the 8k price range even 12k is way to much cash for what is does. Yea great low light performance but 60p at 720? there is no excuse for that its just horrible. You can get a Sony for 2k and it will shoot 1080 at 60p. WTF canon.
$20,000 for a camera with half the resolution and half the features (or less) then the latest Red? Someone please explain how this could possibly do well given the other similarly-priced (and also many far far less expensive) options available. It must have some ridiculously mind-blowing features to justify this price.
$20,000 is the list price, it will sell for less….It is a 4K sensor recording 2K on an easy, broadcast approved codec. There is no de-bayering on the chip so it is able to provide a lot more information (444 RGB) that is recorded and provides an extremely wide latitude in terms of ISO (350-20,000). There is definitely something magical going on with this chip, as said by the 4 ASC DPs who shot the 4 short films premiered at the big announcement at Paramount in Hollywood last week....
@eggbertsmith One of the films “Swords”, started at 800ISO & finished with the last scene done at 20,000 ISO! The grain we saw was what you would expect to see at 1200 or 1600ISO, simply amazing. In the panel discussion on Thurs. night after the films were shown, the DPs were asked by their colleagues among other things, if the 8 bit recording was an issue and all replied it was a non-issue, even Dana Christiaansen, who had a bunch of green screen, said the camera performed better that expected
@eggbertsmith All the films were shot in camera using the XF codec. We (myself-Jim, our company president w/25+ years DP / past SOC president as well as our 25+ camera operator local 600 / USC instructor) viewed these films on the very large Paramount screen with 4K projection so if there was any issues, we did not see them. In using your words, we were blown away by the jaw-dropping footage.
Very nice! I appreciate the coverage as I no longer live out in L.A. I love this news-style format for marketing. I've watched CNet and NAPP do this for years. I'm sure as you refine and learn how to fit the technique to the Filmtools brand, there will be much to see and learn here.
Way cool .... CNN BEWARE!!!! What a cool way to see the latest and greatest. Now where to get the money !!!!! Rock on kids. This will work. James Lowe Productions
1:12, sorry, that is a monstrosity, you cannot fit all that function into a smaller size?

@brayrow The rig was a Hurlbut Visuals "Master Cinema Series" set up. Redrock Micro and Zacuto were also displaying their rigs at the event.

hi guys.
some feedback on the new show.
the whole intro thing was completely unneeded. jen did not actually say anything useful and just took longer to get to the actual video.
also, no offense but jen was talking really monotonously. was kinda boring until the actual segment from the event.
just my 2 cents
