i heard its not good for the transmission to shift manually. I have the same exact car and do the same thing, but my dad who knows cars tells me its causes transmission problems, any problems with your transmission? problably nothing causes hondas are made really well
@royalxchaos9 Yes it will still damage the transmission. It's an automatic it's not meant to be driven like a manual transmission. I had a friend who used to do this to his I think '02 accord and he had to get a new transmission due to it. If you want to drive a car like a manual BUY A MANUAL. I only drive manuals for one reason I like driving and having the control. Plus better MPG better 0-60 better control all around better... Just not in traffic Lol.
@royalxchaos9 Actually Accord 1998-2002 models have problem with their transmissions. Honda didn't really get rid of that completely till 2005. Problem with Odyssey transmission too. There is a Class action lawsuit for which they fixed transmissions upto 7 years. I know I have both 99 accord and 2006 accord, both V6. All I am saying is Honda does not always make "really well" products. But I still love them.
Dude its either you like the car or hate it... Stop trashing it... Its a really really good car... Faster thn most in its class.. its a family sedan.. not a sports car.. 0-60 in 6.5 is good enuff ! :)
You better tell that to the guy's in 10.5 Outlaw drag racing, they're running up to 3,000+ horsepower, probably around 2,000-2,500 FT.-LBS. of torque, on tiny little 10.5 inch tires.
i bought a mustang off of my buddy and i tried shifting at redline and it didnt pick up as fast as shifting at the max torqu but i guess its different on all cars
Shifting at redline doesn't necessarily mean you're going to do any better. Take the time to learn the power curve of your engine first so you'll know the best times to shift. Very rarely is it at redline. That's regardless of transmission type too. On an 07 EXL V6 6mt sedan, shifting at redline is too late and costs you almost 1/2 sec in the 0-60.
Its possible.. but he would have to be like the best driver in the world, and have the best tires in the world. Problem with the accords is they have massive wheel hop.
i know this comment was made a while back, but what Mercedes Benz has launch control?? There is no such thing. Do you mean the limiter on the engine that doesnt let it rev past 4000 while in nuetral? cuz thats not launch control. I think you meant to say Nissan/Infiniti. They do have good launch control. Same with some BMWs
You can manually shift most automatics. In this car you have to manually shift to get the best acceleration. In Drive, it upshifts too early, as much as 600 RPM short of the redline.
Very nice! 0-60 time is about 6.6-6.7 sec! Try to manual shift at higher than 6600 rpm and before 6800 rpm next time(rev limiter is @ 6900). If you want a better 0-100 time, you have to do it on second gear!

You must be used to driving a muscle car... this car should seem fast as hell to the average driver.

"The launch was still bad, thanks to the car's lack of torque"
Wrong... if there is too much torque, you just spin the tires and the car doesn't even move off the line
03leejos 2 years ago
That wasn't his point. A bit more torque would've made it quicker.

That car is heavy. WTF do you bitches expect out of a V6? That is Naturally Aspirated? STFU.

What the hell is your deal? It's quick. I was pointed out a fact that someone else brought up.

to get best result out of shifting i wouldnt put it to redline but what the car is rated at ft/lbs of torqe thats wat rpm you should shift at

Where'd you hear that? That's so wrong.

"dude add some turbo for $15.000 and try again"
what does that mean exactly?

Or have an extremely large mouth, either 1's good.
BTW, my friend's '03 Accord Coupe V6 'supposedly' clocked 5 1/2 to 60 mph.
novan3 4 years ago
This was a pretty good vid. And ther eis no way a stock 03 V6 accord could touch 5sec 0-60. Maybe if it was modded

No 'cuz he didn't want to void the warranty, it was 6 speed manual.

So true, Honda needs launch-control like the Benzes.
novan3 3 years ago
family sedans don't need launch control. the accord is actually pretty decent in speed since it was built to grab the attention of family guys

lol. sure it did. and my 06 6 speed with the mods does 0-60 in 3 secs :) hahaha

So wait, if you're manual shifting and have 1 hand on the wheel, I assume you duct-taped ur digicam to ur neck?
novan3 4 years ago
Nah, I held the steering wheel and the camera together in my left hand, and shifted with my right.
