Wilt would average 30 rebounds a game in today's NBA. Rodman used to lead the league because he worked hard. I was there..Wilt worked so hard he would eat Duncan and Shaq alive. Shaq too slow to handle Wilt and Duncan not strong enough. Wilt would own the NBA these days.
wilt is the best player this world have ever seen. He was an athletic beast with a huge heart. Wilt could jump in the air and touch the topside of the board! Best player ever, The big Dipper is better than michael jordan! Much better!
I'm sorry, but he is not better. If Michael was somehow in the 60's and 70's, he would tear the defenses apart like a razor through rice paper. The players back then were not nearly as powerful as the 90's and 80's, not nearly as athletic, or as skillful. That is the primary reason that greats such as Wilt, or Bill Russell were so dominant. Wilt was a Godzilla, playing in a league of giraffes. I like him, but he wouldn't have been nearly as dominant as in the more -modern age.
Michael wouldnt be able to palm the ball,so he wouldnt.Elgin did what Jordan did back then, and Elgin still finished second to Wilt.WIlt would dominate in any era,the best big men come from the 60's and 70's
@wackadoo543 Its a hard argument to make either way because none of us really now. If he played in modern era he would have better training, a workout coach to help him bodybuild, a dietician to make sure he eats right, and would have an additional 40-50 years of basketball knowledge to draw from. The man was 7ft1 270 pounds, he ran track, and competed in both high jump and long jump. His athleticism could never be doubted.
@wackadoo543 Your underrating Wilt and everyone in his era by an incredible margin here. They weren't a bunch of unskilled players, nor were they un-athletic or lacking in "power" in any way shape or form. (265lb Nate Thurmand!?... 300lb Willis Reed!? etc). Bending of certain rules plus dramatic improvements in footwear plus the innovation of a break-away rim rapidly increased the ILLUSION athleticism, and player sizes have all been greatly exaggerated since the 1980's. It's all for marketing.
@wackadoo543 Stiff looking dribbling, poor footwork, not nearly as many dunks, and the dunks we do see are "soft" bc they don't hang on rims... It's not what u think. Almost none of their limitations had anything to do with their raw athleticism or raw basketball talents. Most of those past guys, given our technology and game rules, would likely adjust and be able to perform like our stars can today - they were world class athletes extremely disciplined in their own version of basketball.
Just watch a Chamberlain highlight reel like this, and you'll see how he would own any center of today. The man could shoot fadeaways, jumpers, finger rolls! Shaq scores by doing one thing, a dunk. Wilt had skills in addition to his strength.
Wilt Chamberlain, Boxer Joe Louis & Sugar Ray Robinson all trained in Idlewild, Michigan, the real Idlewild, not like the movie Idlewild in Georgia. Temptations,Four Tops,Stevie Wonder,Aretha Franklin,BB King,Bill Cosby & others performed in Idlewild,Michigan the black eden of USA and real American history. Thanks for tribute to Wilt.
