  • goood vid just wanted to ask a few questions iv just got my bosc today and he was very cold so got him warming up now but he hasno white spots at all on his back, he looks like hes about to shed is it because of the shed or just coincidence plus is there anything i can do with out taking him out of his viv to help with the shedding as i want him to get to no his viv and iv read i shouldnt handle him for the first 2 weeks or so , (aside from misting the viv)

  • Such a cool lizard. :)

  • Hey i noticed my water monitor is suddenly bloated and more firm, he has been trying to hold back his puke and he is shaking a little... Can you give me any advice or thoughts as to what this might be.. Did your monitor get better?... Its possible that he swallowed a hair if so how can this be treated? Thx

  • @mudpup37 are you sure it's a male?? & are your temps good, basking spot ect 130/140 adult & 120/130f for a young monitor covering snout to vent. has any insects been gut loaded & dusted?

so many things it could be, more details might help , if he's really ill vets the best option!

  • Thanks so much and keep up the vids when u can great techniques and info man.....by the way how big is Zeus and Hera?

  • Hi man luv ur vids on savs i have a female and shes a sweetheart but still huffs and puffs a bit what techniques would you recommend for more handling i spend about 2 hours a day with her thanks

  • @TheFlip617 I've always let them come to me or lead them to me with food! i use to sit in the cage & let them walk over me, just do it on their terms & you won't go far wrong! :)

  • "No more food" Fuk dis im going home

  • maybe if u give a honeybagder for lunch to that "lovely" lizard it will trust u more....:D

  • chek my channel out

  • Sweet Cage !

  • Nicely done.

  • Im hopeing on getting one soon. I have 2 beardy's and i want to say she is a beauty.

  • man i got a nile monitor that is so vicious but i love it

  • shes a beauty

  • @darockwilda915 thank you!

  • How old is he in this vid?

  • haha about 1:15 hes like fuck this ish im going home

  • I am thinking about getting myself a Bosc monitor lizard, already got a bearded dragon, but I want a bigger lizard lol, would you recommend I keep it away from my nephews who are pretty young, or are they tame a lot of the time.

  • nice setup and sav, was wondering how long it took for you to get your sav to start trusting you or at least show signs on progress towards you. ive got a 5 month old sav and its okay if its in its vivarium, i can stroke it and pick it up, but soon as its outside the vivarium on the ground it freaks out and trys to run away then hisses anddd tail whips

  • @shaun1987greenock i've just spent 6 months not touching my nile in anyway before she'd trust me enough to climb on my arm! lol it takes time & most don't like been touched in the early days :)

  • @MDFMONITOR cheers for reply. ive been hands on with him since i got him, i can see slight progress, as i can hand feed him and hes pretty gentle when taking it from my hand, but still freeks out alot if i try to take him out the viv

  • @shaun1987greenock yea 6 months of complete no touching till she told me!!

just keep feeding your monitor near you & you'll get there in the end, there a shy species as a rule! :)

  • @shaun1987greenock if you look at my latest vid with the female nile, it will show you how long & what to do, savs should be faster than 212 days though!!

  • Aww, he is so adorable~

  • @iGAMER6 that build was 8x4x3h & 6x4x3h.

  • the tanks a piece of shit

  • @SuperSkilldude that tank is 14x4x3h & is a piece of crap due to not having deep substrate as i'm sure you setup has????????

  • whats he eatin?

  • @kidchad7 mouse & insects were fed through the week on off. :)

  • Butiful lizard

  • It is amazing you can tame such a ferocious lizard. They are not nice.

  • The two people who disliked this, are simply other Savannah monitors who are jealous of the care, and attention this one gets.

  • At least he knows where his house is :p follow me back lmao check out my GOLITH Frog and my bearded dragon!

  • The posturing on this monitor shows it is in optimal health, what a great specimen NDFMONITOR!

I have posted a little care sheet and a tripod vid of my new savs, hope you accept the response.

  • @whiteyr44 good look with your 2!! :)

  • my savvy is a little bigger than this guy and i had a question do you know if the naturally have bad balance ? mine will just fall off off chairs and such when i let him wander my room he dosent get hurt but it seems odd

  • how much do these cost?

  • Sorry to hear about its no longer alive :( what an amazing creature you had tho ☺,when i get my own house i would love one but im going to make sure i know first what i need to do and thanks to this video its made me think thats its not as easy as buying a dog for example.

  • @QLnox he did what he was born to do at least before he past away mated with his female, some comfort in that!! :)

  • @QLnox sometimes lack of vitd can cause probs or to much even, or they have a big belly!! lol :)

  • nice i want one!

  • its like a dinosaur

  • @Dcblaze2 yea their neat creatures!! :)

  • @MDFMONITOR haha, i would love to get one, but they grow so big, and their cages need to be huge, and my parents wouldnt be able to deal with all that money :p cuz im only 13

  • @MDFMONITOR Hey i just bought a savannah monitor 2 weeks ago, i wasnt looking for a pet when i bought him/her. i was at my local pet shop buying crickets for my tarantula and i saw a little lizard watching my every move so i bought the little guy (or girl) wich wasnt a good idea because i didnt know enough about them to look after him properly. i got h

  • @MDFMONITOR Hey i just bought a savannah monitor 2 weeks ago, i wasnt looking for a pet when i bought him/her. i was at my local pet shop buying crickets for my tarantula and i saw a little lizard watching my every move so i bought the little guy (or girl) wich wasnt a good idea because i didnt know enough about them to look after him properly. i got a heat matt basking light etc but i need to know everything you know so i can give him a good life thanks!

  • @MDFMONITOR i'm wondering how often do you feed your savs and what do you feed them. I have been searching for answers on google and vids but no accurate answer.and because you have a couple healthy mon. why not ask a pro

  • is it still alive

  • @Theknifeman1011 only in the spirit of youtube i'm afraid!, very sad to think something as stunning as him didn't make it. :(

  • @MDFMONITOR What happened to it??

  • @TsS7VEN after £250.00 never really found out, more than likely he died due to my early monitor keeping days, when i had little clue what i was on with!! dehydration & to many mice probably sealed his fate long before i knew what was happening, that's life i'm afraid, so the message is don't over feed mice & make sure your basking spot flood is good at 125f to 140f depending on size!! & make sure that humidity is 60%!!

  • Finally, a sav video that does not make me sick to watch.... Great looking Bosc. Jumbo raw unpeeled shrimp make a better treat, and it's an arthropod. We feed ours dubia, shrimp, slugs, crayfish and night crawlers.

  • @Infernalis1 even this great looking sav didn't go passed 3 years, possibly due to crap basking surface temp in it's youth & to many mice in the 1st year ( my early learning years) , learn from my mistakes & feed that lovely diet you have listed above, don't forget gut load food before feeding & dust every feed with pure calcium for insects /bugs & vit d twice a week, then again you probably know that all ready!! :)

  • Nice video! i have wanted a savannah monitor for a very long time but my parents wont let me get it because of how big it gets. i will be getting one soon when i move out. can someone plz give me any tips on them and how much the food and everything cost?

  • @ognimoddd ackies are small & full of character!! :)

  • @MDFMONITOR lol what?

  • Also what are you feeding yours here

  • @DJKapeesh mouse, should be treats only though!! :)

  • @DJKapeesh mouse, should be treats only though!! :)

  • @DJKapeesh mouse, should be treats only though!! :)

  • Hmm how would I go about with the hand training since mine is in a Glass aquarium. Putting my hand over the top is hard and trying to feed him crickets at the same time. What would you suggest? Check my video and see what I am trying.

  • So I'm thinking about getting a Savannah Monitor and I have a few questions:

    1. Will it eat my roommates cat?

    2. How big of a living space does it need?

    3. What is it's main diet?

    4. Can I walk it on a leash outside?

    Thanks!

  • @sasukelover445 i've pm you!

  • i have a baby sav 4-6 months and she is very angery/scard and every time i get to pick her up she poops on me how can i have her stop pooping on me?

  • @reptileboii44 this is a their defence, trying to put you off handling him/her, if you leave them alone they;ll eventually come round, just keep tong feeding & they get used to you over time, force handle & this can cause them stress & if there's any under lying problems from their CF trip this can make these problems worst, just let them come to you nice & easy over time.!! :)

  • @MDFMONITOR thanks alot and she lets me hold her whens shes bathing

  • hello , really liked your vid , i have a 5-6 month old sav but as soon as i put my hand in his viv he gets his tail ready to whip me and as i move my hand towards him he hisse's whips me and runs away once i get him out he is a little calmer but then the next day he is exactly the same , i get him out every day and try to handle him as i have been doin for the last 3-4 months but he hasnt changed abit , any advice would be amazing :)

  • @connor51100 & it is likely your sav will carry on doing this whilst your grabbing him/her, their smart look for ways to get rid of you!!

follow my latest vid, it shows me taking 50 days to get my nile feeding over my hand/arm, a sav once it's used to been out in front of you can usually be led onto you hand with-in a week or two. Trust is the key to so called taming & you've got to have something they want in this case food!, good luck':)

  • check out my bosc live feeding

  • how big was that monitor at the time and how big do they usually get?

  • @oblivionps3fan Well i always thought he was 38" long, but turned out to be 34" long & they grow all their life so a 20 year sav may be over 4 foot, not that you'll see one lol, young 4 foots are usually over weight.

  • @MDFMONITOR thanks

  • Mine is only a couple months old but I can tell already sh/he is going to be a real handful.

  • What is the correct way to hold them? I'm ordering a baby. :-)

  • Wow this fella has a really high walk! Nice work!

  • Wow that a beautiful Lizard. But aren't you afraid it could bite you. Im sure a bite from one of those would hurt, A lot.

  • @DgosFinnest after time they get to realize who you are & notice how i keep my fingers out the way!! :)

  • @DgosFinnest awesome ain't it bro

  • @DgosFinnest yes it would & i'd feel abit daft with it hung on my fingers!!:)

  • can i aaaask.... are you a animal trainer person? :P and have you always liked the monitor lizards? :D have you DREAMEDDD of raising a lizard like this oneee? :P anyway! Awesome, thats one cute lizard! hehe

  • @Rachelcampbellll i' always been fascinated about reps from an early age, but it's had to wait till i was older to get really into it! :)

  • @MDFMONITOR das awesome :) i had frogs but they died weird deaaaths.... ah.... but yeah! reptiles are awesome :)

  • Kinda died of cuteness overload. I love her <3

  • @XIXDeadGirlXIX666 Not as cute as your youtube name ;)

  • @pr1ncess214 that's right! :)

  • mad channel sub back

  • How much did that whole thin cost to build an materials such as lighting and monitor itself and food weekly I need to know pricin thanks!

  • @jacob9853109 the cage is built in my loft into the rafters, as they grow from a young imported sav they cost a lot of money in insects & bugs to get through the 1st year, after that the bill goes down slightly!, but yes their a big commitment. :)

  • aw shes so cute

  • @hilickit thank you! :)

  • nice to see somebody doing things right on here. thats a cute lil guy and im sorry for your loss. i would love to get a sav but i dont believe i have enough time and space for one yet.when the time is right though we shall meet.

  • I like that cool cage. Did u make it?

  • @twilightprincess640 yes it's built into the loft beams! :)

  • @MDFMONITOR

    Thats so cool!

  • gorgeous! i work in a store that sells baby boscs, so its great to see one much larger. Ours are growing so fast! Is yours fully grown?

  • @billcullen they keep on growing the older they get, lost this one the other year, very unexpected! :(

  • @MDFMONITOR oh noes I liked this lizard. seems to almost have a self awareness, looks intelligent.

  • It dropped something

  • @ilovekendama tail i think!

  • hey how much eperience would you say i would need for these awsome reptile cause i wanna get a lizzard and leopard geckos and that are good beginers ones so i just wated to know how gard they are to take care of thanks :)

  • @Rebelegend best 1st monitor is the ackie, but cost more up front, but save you loads in elec costs & food down the line, they stay about 18/24" & move like lightning when settled in!!

  • @MDFMONITOR thank you very much :)

  • when you first got the savannah monitor how long did you wait to hold it / play with it

  • It looks so happy

  • @JOECHOPYTACO thank you! :)

  • can anyone suggest a monitor species around the size of a savhanna or at least no more than 5 ft that is not that hard to keep ...the idieal size would be a savhanna but i want something with a more monitor like face :p i plan on getting one maybe in a couple of years

  • @diztorcion666 just google monitor lizard & go through the listing & see what you like, then check the size out .:)

  • THIS IS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO CUTE

  • Close to end he stopped while he was about to go in. I'm sure he was saying to himself that this may be his chance to take a slip and run to freedom

  • lol its like i like your arm :)

  • thats a serious amount of basking lamps lol, ive got a bearded dragon and 1 basking lamp is enough to bring it up to the right temp, what kind of temperature does a monitor need?!

  • @MrElliotGear 2/3x 50w line of halogen spot flood 30 degree angle does the trick, upto about 24" 120/130f

, 24" on 130/140f depending on the monitors choice.:)

  • How much is 500 crickets??? Lol

  • @DOORS20 you want that in dollars/pounds/yen?? lol

  • @MDFMONITOR loonies please lol

  • @DOORS20 depending where you go a petstore will run you about 50 bucks for that many crickets your best off looking on line to see if theirs a vendor thatll ship to where you live or finding out if you have a reptile/animal expo close to you like the scott smith all animal expo in illinois/wiscons thats were i go and i only pay 15 bucks for 1500 oh and ordering off the internet depending on shipping runs about 30 bucks for 1500 not sure if you can order smaller amounts that way

  • @DOORS20 at a petstore about 50 bucks you could order off the internet for about 15 this is for 1500 not sure if you can get smaller batches but shipping depending where you are and so on is 15 your best off trying to find a reptile/animal expo in your area like in illinois/wiscons you have the scott smith all animal expo there its 15 bucks for 1500

  • nice dude i like how he walks right back to his cage thats so cool

  • How much to feed for a month???

  • @DOORS20 As they grow ( up to 1st year) they can go through 500 plus large crickets a week & 6 plus mice as well, i've got 3 ackies now, more entertainment & a 3rd of the feeding bill, just cost a lot up front!! :)

  • @MDFMONITOR My son's monitor loves lobster and madagascar roaches, they are very easy to raise.

  • @computermedic64 sounds like yours is getting a good diet!! :)

  • @MDFMONITOR Thanks! He gives him a mouse once a week and roaches the rest of the time. I understand that they eat lots of bugs in the wild. Does that sound right?

  • @computermedic64 Yea that's right! :) don't forget to dust!

  • @DOORS20 ive got a savannah monitor that just hit 36 and a half inches and it runs me 20-25 bucks to feed him for 2-3 mounths for his mice soon to be 30-35 for rats again finding a animal expo is the best way to shop for lizards and most reptiles and birds i personaly have my monitor 5 breadies 6 lepard geckos 2 red iguanas 3 toads and 2 painted turtles and a red ear slide even with all of them i pay about 95 bucks every 2 mounths

  • Do they bite humans when aggravated?

  • @GSFCarlJ only in defence! :)

  • i seriously want a monitor but i want to make sure i can have a nice place for him to stay would you reccomend building an area because i realy dont want a glass setup thanks inadvance any info is much appreciated

  • @cortwoodard i've just got 2 ackie ( ridgetail monitors ) & there great little captives, i'll be posingt a vid sooner or later! :)

  • what would you say your average upkeep cost on a Savannah monitor is?

  • @FrankyProductionsInc alot of money, their cheap to buy, but the up keep is a lot of money, but ackies cost a lot to buy up front, but little cost in feeding & caging after. :)

  • @MDFMONITOR Thanks for the help. I really want a Savannah monitor but i just dont think i can handle the upkeep cost right now. So i guess im just going to have to keep admiring them at the reptile shows.

  • Freaking awesome.

  • @willmockingbird Thank you:))

  • thats alot of lights! lol

  • @laserimport Yea low voltage less chance of them burning themselves on the lights if hey make contact!:)

  • @MDFMONITOR true true! lol how many you got in total ?

  • beautiful just a beautiful reptile my girlfriend wont let me get one.

  • @daywalker1062 lol sorry to hear! maybe oneday!:)

  • Love ur monitor... thinking about getting one myself. Few questions tho ;D

Anyway, do you ever have to worry about cutting his nails?

    Where did you get him?

How big is the cage and what do you feed him?

And how big should the cage be for a grown out savannah monitor?

    Hope for an answer ;D

    Thank you

  • Aww lizard hug at 1:00

  • @RandomKristin lol!!

  • that thing is greedy, all it cares about is food lol. if you want a animal that knows ''love'', I suggest a dog, not a lizard
