was me myself and irene in the backgournd lol XD , i love that movie, and man i hope that rainbow shark dosnt get big and eat all the other fish, but it prolly wont.
Yea. The beta was real healthy at that point. The whole tank was then. But within a month or two, the I got the shark to grow almost full size and it went Jason on all the other fish. I finally donated him and made it into a fancy goldfsih tank for my pops. I;ll probably make a vid for it pretty soon.
And as a matter a fact, were figuring what to do with him now.
He just killed two guppies which makes it about 80 dollars worth of fish that he's killed. Hes about 6 inches now and no pet store around here would take him back.
Does the betta fish get along well with the other ones? I wanted to get a male, but I heard he will fight with other fishes with bright colors !! can you help me with this ?
plus from all my reserach all my fish i have in there are all tolerant of most sitatuions so thats why i have um in there haha.
i might get flamed by fish lovers for this, but if u toss those platies into any freshwater tank, they should be fine all long as it's not over crowded
i don't exactly IGNORE the ph, but i don't test it. instead i just do regular water changes.
and for a 10 g, i read with in a months time you should change out 50% of the total water.
so what i do is every monday morning i take out 15% or so of the water and replace it with new fresh water.
4 x 15 = 60 but hey, its about right.
oh and yea, those platies have thrived greatly. one of them is huge, close to 2 1/4 iches! its huge! My sharks still bigger and hasnt even grown 1/4th its max size!
hey have you had any problems with your betta with your other fish? i have a ten gallon tank with 2 sunburst platies and 2 tetras, and i kinda wanted a betta i just didnt want it to hurt the other fish
Hes also kinds strange at that. I read that they hate fish flakes and pellets and would only eat their own betta food, but my betta seems to like the sinking wafers and tropical flakes.
I see him lots of times going up when I'm feeding all the other fish, taking whatever flakes he can fit in his mouth and going into the cave with the shark. I kinda think they share their food!
Oh, and google "Freshwater fish compatibilities". That might help you pick.
Oh and a friend told me a tip. The betta will be less aggressive to other fish if you excerise him once in a while. By either holding up a mirrior or another betta next to the tank.
Also, try to give the betta a cave plants to hide in cause they will get tired from the filter. Thats what they told me
dude your tank is a really good set up nice job on it 5/5 tank

notreallyfamous 1 year ago

SGardner11 1 year ago
@notreallyfamous No You can put Betta fish in with other kind of fish, they only fight their own kind.

LMFAO. I wondered why you would say that. haha.
Closest place is el darado park by my university, but the water is to murky for it to live long.
SGardner11 3 years ago
I don't see no shark.

It's a "Red Tailed Black Shark" and it's when its a baby. ha. It got bigger. Its not like a tiger shark, haha.
SGardner11 3 years ago
I'm that stupid. I'm saying that I only see fish in that tank; no sharks.

Wow! He's a hungry feller.
Just release him into a nearby lake.

ARE THOSE Sunburst Platies AGGRESIVE?
hobbyguy217 3 years ago
nope, they were extremely friendy, just my shark literally ate off there scales and they died slowly =/.
i like my shark too much to get rid of it though
SGardner11 3 years ago
hahaha...those "red" tetras, are also called serpae tetra's lol
rjmaryjane 3 years ago
yes, yes they are. =]
SGardner11 3 years ago
what kind of guppies are those with the black fins and orange body?
netweit 3 years ago
those aren't guppies. those ones are the sunburst platties. they look great... as long as they dont eat all the food u put in for the tank.
those lil dudes eat and eat and eat. and can just keep going.
Bong811 3 years ago
how big do platties grow? whats the biggest one you had?
netweit 3 years ago
the biggest the one i gotten so far is about an inch and a half, and its plump.
that thing sometimes hogs the food from the rest. well, he hogs it until the red tailed shark get irritated and chases it off.
SGardner11 3 years ago
oh because i heard they got to 4! inckes when full grown but i guess not
netweit 3 years ago
ive only had mine for like 3 months.
and i heard there max size is about 2.
ill look it up right now though
SGardner11 3 years ago
i heard about these things that plattys need to live: pH 7.0-8.2, KH 10-25
what is kh? and the ph levels are the highest the fish can resist?
netweit 3 years ago
honestly, i haven't checked all that stuff.
all i do is do water changes every monday.
plus from all my reserach all my fish i have in there are all tolerant of most sitatuions so thats why i have um in there haha.
i might get flamed by fish lovers for this, but if u toss those platies into any freshwater tank, they should be fine all long as it's not over crowded
SGardner11 3 years ago
so you just ignored those ph things and your plattys have thrived for a long time? oh and for my 10g aquarium, how ofter shuld i do the water changes
