Special Effect Explosion Test

Where are the Special Effects in the Video? I only can see Visual Effects... not the best ones, but okay for beginners...

But please, one thing: Special Effects and Visual Effects are two different things! Visual Effects are CG Effects, while Special Effects are "real" effects.. like guns firing blanks, real explosions etc... Of cource CGI are some kind of "Special" Effects, but they're not the kind of Special effects, you usually mean when saying "Special Effect"....

The rain looks the best part. Work on the missile effect and little more. And for the muzzle flare you need to add a glow to you and parts of the background to make it look more realistic

I liked the smoke and explosion, but the muzzle flashes weren't the greatest, I think they actually distracted us from the effect in the background, and same with the like mortar thing that showed where the explosion was coming from, but you're on the right track!

what might help is something I learned from maltaannondotcom. Everything looked great but the smoke stream didn't look well inegrated. i'd recommend using his light wrap add-on to match it to the environment (maybe on the explosion as well).

No offense, but that kinda sucked. The explosion was nothing special, the surrounding area didn't even light up! And the footage was not color corrected properly. Also, your "rain" was just a sound effect. Not even real digital rain. Send me the raw footage and I'll show you how it's really done.

hmm yeh nice, its just everytime i watch a video about explosions, theres a lack of little visual details, like the missle going from in- to out of focus, it flies behind quite a bit, so it only makes sense to blur it out a bit, just like a wiggle after the hit..aswell as some orange light on the pavement and the containter, wud make sense..half of the time it looks unrealistic cause its not composited well in the frame.. so be sure to color correct it a bit and stuff

The missile and muzzle flash sucked, but the explosion was great. One of the best I've seen on youtube with Detonation films. And I didn't even notice the rain, so you might wanna do something about that.

The reflection was cool too, but you might wanna add some slight distortion since it's supposed to be raining. Try mixing CC Drizzle (over a solid with 127.5 for 8bpc or .5 for 16/ 32 bpc RGB values) set to overlay and use Displacement Map to distort said reflection using the drizzle solid

the explosions was good but the pistol after fire was too much. You wouldn't get that much of a bounce after shooting a pistol and the fire extended too far out. The explosion was great though

Smoke is usually not white. Also when an explosion takes place, there is much more than just the explosion. usually there is a shockwave, dust, debree,... A cam shake would be nice, too.

Good thing is, you applyed reflections, but waterreflections are NEVER that clear ;)

But, maybe you could get a bit of the destruction in camera. You could blast some dirt up with some compressed air and a funel on the end of an air hose (use cocoa powder and flour, easier to get a dirt ball with) , or if you are allowed to use some firecrackers/sqibs. It might give a little extra depth/realism
