I saw Journey on this tour in 1981 in Omaha, NE with The Scorpions & Def Leppard opening for them. So amazing I remember it like yesterday, despite the cornucopia of drugs. Those were the days!

What an amazing concert that must have been - Journey on Escape tour was their prime, in my opinion (Escape was the first album I bought when I was 10, so maybe I'm biased LOL). Also, thanks for letting me attach my video response... it's me and a bunch of other musicians paying tribute to Journey by doing a cover song of this. Steve Perry's soaring tenor was unrivaled and Journey were arguably one of the best blues/rock bands of their day. But I'm not sure you can hold "Lights," "Stay Awhile" (same tune, different lyric) and "Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin'" up against "Bohemian Rhapsody," "Tie Your Mother Down," "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" etc. Each band had their strengths.

I got to meet them: backstage, hours before the Escape show, in their dressing room, stood right next to Steve Perry, laughed with Neal, Caine etc, it was fun! Best part-I had no idea who they were. Got an offer to assist a group called Journey, free ticket - why not? I watched/listened Steve warm up, testing microphones. After the concert WHOA! I'm sooo glad I had no idea who they were! I would have smothered 'em, making an absolute fool of myself. Forever a fan. BTW - really nice, nice guys.

a little hard the night before. The denver date was pushed to the last on the tour.

Those guys came out and played for 31/2 hours. Every single song they had. It was the best show I have ever seen.

This band was never underrated, They have a star on the walk of fame and had received, if memory serves me right, a Grammy nomination. At least for Steve.

The problem was that the band dispersed and did not work for awhile by their own accord, just as they were on the very top.They are now working but of course without Steve is just not the same.

I saw this tour when they stopped in Charlotte, N.C. I really didn't want to go, but I did for a girl. I was into Zeppelin, Rush, Floyd, Skynard etc.....
