like it was a performance that defied belief, or something special as Ligget would call it, we all watched then and loved it and I still love to watch it today, we the fans are the ones who share the problem with the athletes because we are addicted to seeing spectacular rides in every tour and not a peloton of guys riding tempo for 3 weeks, if last year tour would have been ridden clean it would have had a field of 20 guys, they are the ones whose names you hear about before stages, DNS!
And you could have a hemocrit of 60 and still get dropped, it happens all the time, it is not the bike and it's not the EPO. He is a vicious competitor and businessman, remember Bernie Madoff, well he was considered beyond reproach by everyone except the people who accepted that the game is not fair, no one would watch it if it was, no more acceleration up the Tourmalet by the chicken or the cow, and if only Floyd had been a little more careful we would still be talking about stage 17
You all need to come back to planet earth. You know the one where the top cyclists have doped since the first tour in 1903. Only the top riders can remind fans that they have never been positive, Richard Virenque and Alex Zulle had never failed a test and if ole Willy had not been caught with a car full of dope they never would have admitted to years of EPO use. These guys won stages at the tour so they were tested and never positive. So believe what you want, I think Lance rode like a champ.
Oh, and labelling everyone who doubts Armstrong as a hater, it's not so simple, nor can you reduce questions on his achievements down to a simple case of liking/disliking. I don't hate him, why should i? I don't even know him and who knows, i may be wrong, but then again all his 'fans' may be wrong as well for their unquestioning devotion. Pointing out proficiency in Triathlons as a teen is an unreliable predictive factor for talent in road racing, especially at the highest level in Europe
@EMC2Scotia man thats what i call a clear and objective comment but its also true that i am a fan of Lance Armstrong and thus i am 110 % sure he never doped. He is arguably the most tested cyclist in history and considering what he's been through, it legitimate to have doubts but also the use of PHD can cause cancer and other diseases and he is aware of that and i dont think he's ready to go throught that once more. LIVESTRONG!!
I'm a genius? Gee whiz thanks kdo! Just starting to develop? He was world champion a full three years previous to this, so i think his development may have hit a brick wall in 95, and then all of a sudden, he was riding like never before, so either he did make that breakthrough naturally, or a decision was made. By this stage Lemond by comparison had already won the Tour, been on it;s podium, made many other prestigious podiums, Lance was no equal to Lemond at this age, a pure natural talent
man for sure he was on drugs -95, did you know that the time last km was exactly as they did in 2009 and 2010...he was not just a drugaddict as bjarne riis was (he trainer said that without dope he was just an ordinary cyclist)
@wouterschram Hahaha, ja idd. Maarja daar wisten we nog niet dat hij 3 jaar later (met de compliciteit van JM Leblanc) Zich ging doperen tot en met ;)
What a difference a year makes, compare Armstrong 95 to 96. Suddenly he can do 32mph TT's and climb mountains like a pure climber. Something's not quite right is it? Supposedly the much hyped weight loss post cancer is just that, hype.
@EMC2Scotia it's called being in your early twenties and just starting to develop on the european scene genius. if you looked at what he was accomplishing in his teens you wouldn't be surprised at his development
This is a very "wealthy" video. =p

I'm no armstrong fan, but that was full of the panache that he failed to display in his Tour de France era
