  • sounds odd sometimes punk-like (wait... what?) but it is not that bad as peopole bitch about...

  • still varg!!!

  • i personally prefer this version, but i wasnt around to hear the original the first time, it would probably put a lot more meaning to the original.

  • Dont you ever understand that Varg (Or anyone else) doesn care of your opinions at all?? If you dont like the album, Fuck Off and dont listen to it. Go back to your Justin Bieber-collection.

  • 1:18, people the difference is both guitars (if there are two) are doing the same thing. In the original, he had one playing the bass riff.

  • This was quite horrible, honestly Varg? I know these kids are really easy to cash out from, but as being a fan of Burzum for a long time, all I could say is that I'm slowly starting to lose respect for (not you as a person because I don't know you) but what you were fighting for in the beginning, and your motivation which has inspired all of us.

I really hope this album is a joke, and some hopeless kid covering it.

  • 2011? O_o I didn't know it!

  • i like the songs it sounds really perfect. like everything that belongs and was created by his own god.!

  • 1:18 i love the riff OF THE GUITAR is PERFECT¡¡¡¡

  • Dumbed down. What happened to the cool riff from the opening section? the harmony? the sense of flow?

  • Seriously lacks the impact of the original. This is like the lite version. Not worth anyone's time.

  • 18 years old varg was an extreme type of person. he knew what he wnts and what must be done. we talk too much in our time. maybe we became weaker?

  • Hmm. I have to admit i kinda like this one a little better then the Original! Varg's vocals have gotten allot better. But still both rock!

  • Yea I like a few of the songs on this remake but im not realling diggin this one. The original is way better.

  • Man, 6:51 felt like it had like, no impact in comparison to the original. In the original he's like: "WAAAAAAAAR!!!!!!" And I'm all:*HEADBANG* I appreciate Varg's endeavour to visit his old classics, and I do enjoy his new versions of Key to the Gate and Feeble Screams, but here it almost feels as if he isn't -trying- to consume my soul.

  • Hey lets see all you fuck heads record everything yourself and let us judge your work half you fucks probably have never touched an instrument

  • if I would buy it I would be pissed off whole day for wasting my money. once again thanks to the youtube I don't have to. thanks to you for posting it.

  • Hipsters. Hipsters everywhere.

  • Old version way better.

  • I like the new vocals, especially around 2:30 . Still so epic.

  • I can hear the individual riffs and the discordant chords much better on this version. Such as at 1:51 and the riff at 2:30 really jumps out now. The guitar work throughout this song is quite complex and deserves to be heard fully. The end riff has much more depth now.

To me, this sounds just right.

  • i think both versions are pretty lame

  • not the same atmosphere

  • looks like varg needs money badly

  • @moh502 Well, he'll certainly be getting it from me!

  • I'm appreciate his will to satisfy people and to be an artist and all, but I'm sad to say this is probably the only time I'm listing to this version.

  • Quit complaining, people...let the man enjoy his guitars...

  • the vocals are not so good in my opinion...sounds more like whispering..

  • hm. kinda stale, mr Varg

  • i think 37 yrs old Varg is really missing his 18 years :<

  • Disappointing

  • Why the hell he failed to include the magnificent solo-esque guitar part that comes right before 0:40 is beyond me. That part is so crucial to what comes next; in the original version, it prepares the song to be launched into the wide universe in a most suspenseful way. As a result of the omission, the new version of My Journey To The Stars has been flattened out, and is simply being ''played'' in comparison. A major pity.

  • looking back to 92/93 when I first heard the original, I was amazed by the shriek of the vocals, hypnotic madness of drums and cold harsh guitar sound. Burzum WAS original at that time and yes, one could feel the magic, one could travel with this track to the stars. If this re-recording was done for personal purpose, so be it, but it should not be published. But it is, and so it is open to my criticism - it has no rebelious sound in it anymore and I see it as an attempt to secure family budget.

  • its definitley not plastic, just because the guitars and vocals dont sound like poop doesnt mean it itsnt plastic!

  • The only issue with this is the main riff... it sounds far less dynamic and far more hollow than the original... like Varg got rid of a harmony or something, y'know? At 1:18? Just sounds weird.

  • @treeofhatred

I agree, this doesnt even get close to original..

The original had soul, this sounds like ... Bleeeh

  • @treeofhatred it's a different bassline, too bad, that's one of my favorite riffs from the debut.

  • @treeofhatred yeah, it sounds like some folk music for drinking...

  • @treeofhatred i know exactly what youre talking about. one of the guitars should be playing a different riff. one that sounds like its played on the top E string of the guitar.

  • @treeofhatred The recording eqiupment he uses is pretty random from time to time i think. Pluss the Burzum album was produced by Pytten at Grieghallen studios (who also did BM classics like De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas and Arntor, to mention a few). This album he probably produced himself.

  • @treeofhatred higher tuning

  • @treeofhatred "like varg got rid of" , dude this is not meant to replace the old one, should it sound exactly the same or what

  • @treeofhatred Thats because this album was brickwalled during mastering, something thats become all too popular. Varg's original albums do not suffer from this and have quite good mastering actually. Fallen and Belus are also brickwalled, and I'm sure there are some 'remastered re-issues' out there with this done as well. It pays to get original copies whenever possible, though I have the 2011 reissue of Burzum/Aske and its fine.

  • @treeofhatred I think hes playing one less string.

  • @treeofhatred i hear what ur talking about...there is supposed to be a higher part of the same riff playing at that part...from what i remember from the original at least...im no botanist though

  • @treeofhatred Yeah he did. There's a higher pitched harmony before that riff starts. Still a cool re-recording for what it is.

  • @treeofhatred Horrible mixing.

  • plastic weakerness metal

  • @MrAniroe shut up,you plastic dildo...

  • @MrLuciferion oooh, scary mister lucipelion, come, come, clean your nose

  • @MrAniroe ok,you are true metalhead and we're not...but we like this and everything that Varg do,so fuck off we dont care about your opinion...

  • @MrLuciferion oh great master lucipelion, how should I fuck off, please amaze me with your opinion! who the hell are you? some pluralis maiestatis to tell "we"? go and lick hemoroids from christian weakerness ass, i do not care. call your mom metalhead, not me. The only person who can revoke my right to raise opinion is myself, so spare me and listen to some cradle of filth. you think burzum is some kind of saint or demigod? itsmuse was indeed powerful, but in 92-93 when it had authentic spirit

  • @MrAniroe Fuck is the problem with cof?

  • @tDeathwingr he is just recommending another amazing band to that guy. that is all.

  • @cockvaginaballstits I'm not sure about that, but nevermind. Everbody's talking shit about CoF below burzum and etc. D:

  • @tDeathwingr then they know nothing of real true music. anyone that talks shit its because of jealousy.

  • @cockvaginaballstits Yeah, there's something in that.

  • @MrAniroe How can you call this plastic?

  • @Wasserrauschen cause metal was in '92, now is fundraising for kids and french wife. musically plastic repetition. not vikernes but weakerness. and i really dig 2 songs from "fallen" album, to be specific

  • @MrAniroe The production is kinda muffled, the drums are buried in the mix and the vocals are anything but polished. NOTHING about this is anything like modern pop music - or ''modern metal''. It's still a dirty piece of work.

  • eh who cares, it's cool, i'd just prefer the original, not like its bad or anything.

  • Not nearly as good as the original.
