Many years ago I had the honor of seeing Muddy, Pinetop and Jerry Portnoy at a small venue in suburban Chicago. Front row seats, less than 10 feet from the Master himself. Even at that time I knew I was witnessing something special!
hey, im brazilian and this song is amazing man. hahahahahahahahahahaha blues is great hahahahahahaha the guy of the harmonica man. hahahahah very good very good.
this is the best muddy waters song in my opinion. i used to rock out to this song when i was a kid. my parents had the blues going all the time. so this shit just takes me back.
huhuh sorry, I'm not from english speaking country, so I was trying to be smart... guess it hasn't worked that well lol :) but it's stil kinda strange nickname since there is the instrument that is called harp :P
being a prat? it's not like I sent hundreds of posts bugging about harp which would make me a prat, I asked a simple question... Like I said I'm not from an english speaking country so I didn't know, but you, being a "full of himself" stereotyipical american or british wouldn't understand that not everybody speaks your fuckin language would you?
WOW! Tell us how you really feel there my friend. You just lumped 2 countries into a single mold. Amazing. Not all americans are the same. Not all of your countryman are the same, at least I hope not!
I know Muddy love the sounds of his bands and it brings him a smile, but at 2:02 the smile seems to say, "That boy can play that harmonica almost like Little Walter." Muddy said on one occassion that Jerry was the greatest harp player since Littlle Walter. Love Jerry playing!!!
the one.....the only.....mr. muddy waters.......have mercy....i saw muddy live many times.....the crowd went totally nuts every time.....chicago blues, nothing like it.....
@lenaspieltblues: Nice that you recognised this Minnie-song. Originally recorded by Memphis Minnie(Lizzie Douglas/1897-1973) as:
"What's the Matter With the Mill" in Chicago IL. Sept.9/1930(!!) for VOCALION C-6442-Vo 1550 and deals with male impotence(!), weird to hear males sing this typical 'female' song. I wonder if Muddy & his guys were aware of this ?? Danke schön für dein Beitrag.

'Muddy was the best Bluesband leader ever.
He controled it all, and looked relaxed on top of that.
But don't let that fool you.
Great musicians all of 'em.
The drummer is something else.
Just try and copy his style.
It won't work I bet you.

Jerry Portnoy is the best Muddy sidemen of them all and that will attract some comments to be sure.

Agreed , his harp break during Champagne and reefer puts the hairs on your neck into action.
If you can watch it live anywhere you see luther twitch and turn like a shock goes down his back too :-)
