chicago does have a east side take south chicago ave all the way out to95th st the blues brothers jumped the bridge on th east side of chi i still hang there its now called the southeast side!
I've lived in Chicago my whole life..The only County in Chicago is Cook County..There is no East Side of Chicago. I have been to the UK and spent time in London..The East side( or East End or East London) of London isn't known as the best part of London. Maybe that's where the term "East Side" came into play in this song. Paper lace is from Nottingham & Nottingham isn't too far from London. :)

Actually, the East side is now called the Southeast side and can be seen in the movie 'The Blues Brothers' when the Nazis chase them into Chicago and when the Chicago PD joins the chase. The bridge jump scene is in the East side.
@Vangkao38 The East side can't be called the South East side now since it has never existed. Just like the "Fictional" movie Blues Brothers The South East side is 'Fictional" as well. All I have to say is "No Virginia, there is no East Side of Chicago" :)

im 9 years old and i love this song so you 80s people are wrong the next genaration of people can like it ha i did it so im gonna say one more thing my daddy is a cop on east side the night fairamont died
@lalonemis "The song's events supposedly take place "on the East Side of Chicago." Chicago has three commonly referred-to regions; the North Side, the West Side, and the South Side. The East Side is not one of these "sides" of town, but in reality is a neighborhood located on the South Side"-wikipedia. Ask any Chicagoan and they'll tell you there is no EAST SIDE in chicago. And since when has chicago ever been a part of Indiana?? It should also be noted that these guys were from ENGLAND.
@demonmama Some call east Chicago the area just below down town, I heard a few songs talking about east Chicago, meaning the area from South Commons to Grand Boulevard and Kenwood, heard people refer to that area as "East Chicago", and you/they might be confusing East Side for East Chicago, Indiana? which is south east of East Side which is actually a neighborhood of Chicago. So there is a "east Chicago" (an area south of the loop), East Side(Chicago neighborhood), and East Chicago Indiana. 3!
The night Chicago died was the day the Illinois combine was created and guess what it is still going strong.

This goofy song drove me crazy when I was totally hammered on a four-way hit of Acid in 1974. I had to park my car and just let the thing pass....

@demonmama....how about you google east chicago, indiana? thank you
lalonemis 3 months ago
@lalonemis just because it's called east chicago doesn't mean it's part of the city, it's not even in the same county as chicago.
demonmama 3 months ago
east side chicago is in Indiana dumbass
lalonemis 3 months ago
@lalonemis "The song's events supposedly take place "on the East Side of Chicago." Chicago has three commonly referred-to regions; the North Side, the West Side, and the South Side. The East Side is not one of these "sides" of town, but in reality is a neighborhood located on the South Side"-wikipedia. Ask any Chicagoan and they'll tell you there is no EAST SIDE in chicago. And since when has chicago ever been a part of Indiana?? It should also be noted that these guys were from ENGLAND.

@demonmama he could just ask me lol...There is in fact a neighborhood in the SE side called East Side though :P
