I believe in this concept. People are afraid just to be themselves these days. There's a false perception they're being criticized for every little thing they do. It's not healthy!
Fear and racism is what many politicians use to get their way. Take Obama for instance. Look at cocaine, weed, assault weapons, and handguns. Wake up America! Don't be scared, be active, do something to deal with it, lead your selves. Don't let a bunch of power hungry leftist liberals rule your lives because your scared to do it your self. Out of common sense you must understand that the media is a weapon far more pwerful than any firearm! VOTE McCain he shows strength and confidence.
how can after saying all that you say vote mccain.. hes another bush, that guy isnt going to change anything- infact in interview he oftin repeats warnings that bush makes. hes in the same boat of using fear to controle the population
Also the media cares only about americans and there interests. A lot of global developments have led to americas current super power status. But all global interests are better solved by mutual caring and helping, by everybody.
yeah, and it makes more sense to be legal than alcohol. I'm never been confrontational when high, and have seen most people's moods stabilize. Whenever I see drunk people, I see impaired judgment, abrupt hostility, and more negative psychoactive effects. then again if bud were legal, senseless wars may not fly so well with the public. now I see why it's illegal.
You know why it's not legal, of course. It's because the social group that is in power enjoys alcohol and tobacco, and is culturally programmed to look down on anything that is -perceived- to have come up from the lower classes... if Marijuana was the choice of dinnertime food accompaniment instead of a cigar and a bottle of wine during the time of the founding fathers, it'd DEFINITELY be the other way around (weed legal, booze and smokes not.)
I used to be one of those people who was afraid of everything the media tells us to be afraid of. Then I realised watching a news report "why the hell am I worried about THIS?" Then I read "The Culture of Fear" and those stats baffled me. Now I go outside at night, I'm not too worried if my door's unlocked and I'm not worried about going off the beaten path. It really is a better to live, your taking more "risks" but the chance they happen are miniscule and it's better to live without fear.
It's only since ive come to live in america that i've gotten worried enough to carry a weapon with me at all times. . . i cant help it. . . it just seems like the place is rife with death and violence, evnen though its not.
And guess what, defending yourself is a crime as punishable as causing someone to defend themselves. Since the formation of America, we have been a culture of fear.
its been ten months since I posted that comment, and during that time, I kind of learned what you just said the hard way. Some guy tried to mug me about 2-3 months ago, and I basically got in huge trouble for beating the shit out of him. . .
Yep. It's like being a party where alcohol is being served or is accessible to minors. If you are over 21, you are to blame. If you are under 21, pass a sobriety test, and a breathalizer, you are still guilty of posession. These are the kinds of things that prove we're moving closer and closer to a police state, and by the will of the people. Americans are willing to give up everything if it means the taker of rights makes sure no one else takes your rights away. It's sad and weird.
thats because u had the choice to run away and call the police. or u had the choice to use force until u are able to get away- like pushing him so he cant reach u, then running. if u are in a satuation where your life is in immediate danger, like hes shooting at u, and u shoot back killing him. thats self defence. u cant have people out hurting everyone who violates their rights, thats taking the law into your own hands. its also difficult to define how much is legal, so its completely illegal
You don't know the context, so you have no moral right to tell me that. He pressed a knife to my face, so I moved the knife away with my left hand, stabbed him in the eye with my right thumb, and kicked him in the nuts before running away. All this happened WITHIN SIX SECONDS. And he got to the cops first, obviously ditching the knife, and filed for assault.
so u were convicted for assault and he wasnt? from your original comment it sounded like the guy tried to mug u and u started beating him up, ignoring your opportunity to get away so u could continue attacking him. if u were getting mugged and hit him then ran, and u both tell differing storys, its a he said he said- u need a lawyer to point that out so u can get aquitted. unless u didnt go2 police, and waited for them to come to u that makes u look guilty
Well that's what happened. I didn't think a mugger would try to turn the situation on ME, so I let it fly and ended up getting a visit. I got acquitted because there was no evidence either way asides from the fact that the guy had corneal abrasions in one eye
dont know who you are but good job with putting your thoughts together. Im canadian but america is our neighbour and if the people dont stop running in circles, the fire will continue to spread till the blaze incircles us all.
A basic and unimpeachable indictment of the human tendency to focus on the negative in almost any situation, and of those in the media and politics willingness to exploit this tendency for monetary and influence gain. Boycott toxic news.
Note that this is not attacking either party, but both parties: they both try to divide us through fear instead of addressing our shared goals as Americans.
fuck the human race!
