It doesnt matter where the gourd dancing originated from. we are all related under our creator. We borrow and grow in our ancestors. And gourd dancing is from our ancestors. Lets not sound like the white mans church, claiming that their church is the true church from others like baptist, assembly of god, catholics etc. etc..We can be as one in our spirituality, and grow as a nation as one.
whats that firs song i rember it when i was little about 3 and playing tag with my little friends at the powwow nut now im 26 and hear that when i go to powwow's it make proud its like somthing grand ma cooked when we where kids youll rember it forever.. some fry bread aye's haha but if some one can tell me thank you..
I understand that the Gourd Dance is Kiowa. But is it wrong for other tribes to have societies if they were taught by the Kiowa? Not that I'm saying the Cherokee Gourd Society was, I don't know them. It's just a curiosity I have.

hey it's great to have 21 minutes of gourd dancing! it's some soulful singing, thanks for posting. it's nice to see oklahoma too...the music helps the day.
U.N.I.T.Y. is going to Oklahoma this summer of 2007. Natives from all over the nation will be there with their tribe. Come meet new people, share your culture. Their will be entertainment; food and dances. Their will also be workshops for college and health...Last year UNITY went to Buffalo, NY, and it was fun. Research some more about it. See you there!
this powwow is in my hometown stilwell oklahoma at a little place called bell i got to it every year but to tell you the truth i never seen them do this but i always arrive at nite.
wonderful drumming and singing!!!! i enjoyed the dancing too, but just listening is very powerful. the sounds get right into my spirit and helps it soar!
Pretty good singing and drumming. Who was the head singer for the gourd dance? Where was this dance at? I enjoyed listening to the music. Made me want to dance.
Are these men all U.S. Armed service veterans? From what I understand the Gourd dance is Native veterans. Is that correct?
