Welcome to the family!-- Praetorius (1618) describes a 'Bauern-Leier' (Strohfiddel, wheel-fiddle) -- kind of hurdy-gurdy without keys.-- A similar idea, wouldn't you say?

The European strohfiddel tradition lives on, SpamBanjo. One of the founding members of the Hungarian tekerő-players, founded in 1980, played the 'vielle à roue sans clavier' since 1905. -- From letters to JR from Ferenc Sebő [of the Sebő Ensemble] and from Róbert Mandel [of the Mákvirág Ensemble].
