Food food food! Its all OUR fault! Nobody will ever search in history books about Philosophy, art and culture of a civilization. We, ourselves, should make aware people (at least the people who are interested in that) of Greek culture. And what do we do? My big fat greek wedding?? A hiddeous parody of ourselves?? If we dont have some self-respect we will never gain the respect we demand from others.
The questions are as outrageous as it would be asking a European about Indian mythology. I have no clue about neither Indian philosophy nor religion. The only thing i know of them is their food.
This video shows just how much of a decline there has been in the study and embracing of the humanities in this country. Shame that people don't know these things as they are not just part of Greek culture but the culture of any well educated person.
We invite everyone to join the "OPA! Village" (part of a new lifestyle/workstyle, The OPA! Way®: "Living Your Inner Greece!," to inspire people to live ALL of life fully with Enthusiasm & Meaning!). On September 15, 2010, we celebrated the very first "OPA! Day" (details on our web site) in Rethymno, Crete, to recognize Greece's vast contributions to the world. Beginning this year, we hope to see it spread to other locations around the world! OPA!
I'm not offended because they don't know about the country, but because with all the attention Greece gets in history books, it seems these Americans failed history. And don't give a damn either. And that, is Pathetic.
