Aliens were not the "cause" of the disasters. The movie didn't show or imply that but they were the saviors of preserving the race of humans and allowing them through the children to start over elsewhere.

Typical sci-fi thriller about the end of the world. SCI-FI is my favorite movie genre but this movie was monotonous, very sombre and boring. The idea with aliens was ridiculous
Sacrificial sad ending 4 adult humans but I believe more children were saved because of the Ark ships leaving planet Earth. The impression of children were scattered 2 reseed the Earth eons later, or Universe. The theory or idea is children R closer 2 god than us evil, full of the world, selfish adults. So only taking children whom heard the call/ psychic level was believable. There were a-lot of Bible scripture comparisions 2 many 2 say but U get the feeling of celestrial intervention.
Watch this review - because it's great! But then go watch the movie anyway, because it's full of truly excellent visuals, like the closing-in on earth from space, or the infamous plane crash. The story has its shortcomings, and a few scenes are way too long, but it is a great action movie still.

i think i got it the movie was influenced by alien petiphiles who want to whisper little kids into their cars, since the kids cant understand them they go up to the aliens and ask what they said. Then the aliens fly the kids they like to their homeworld, and destroy the others cause they got what they want and dont want to leave evidence behind.
it was a good movie, but some parts were just not fit in cinema, like the plane crash. if any kid like 10 years old or younger saw that, i think they would be in denial for a few weeks. when i saw it i screamed out HOLY SHIT! and was about to break the CD. the director filmed it with a Dolby digital camera to make it look more real and he succeeded very well. i rate this movie 8.5/10

Great job, you had like, three small things you didn't like about the movie, and you couldn't stop thinking about how much those three things annoyed you, so you didn't pay attention to the whole purpose of the alien/angel/beings. Fantastic effects, great suspense in early to mid portions but there were early signals of the GOD stuff coming. Yah it was absolutely bad. But to its credit, the end of the world sequence was well put together. Seeing a solar flare kill us all left me unable to sleep for a night. Too the rest of the movie was shit on a piece of toilet paper. Good review though. The last good flick Nick Cage did that I saw was Ghostrider.

If your religious or highly intelligent, this movie is great but if your a moron like 95% of our country nowadays, then you will still probably like it, but will be asking yourself, "What the fuck is this all about"?
I liked the movie and give it 9/10!
He was right about the cliche stuff however but other than that, it was a fantastic thriller.

the ending sucked so much i almost walked out.
i could have settled with aliens who know whats gonna happen and save some guys.
but the inclination that the unsympathetic scientists gives his son to angels which bring the kids to eden? if i wanna see this shit i watch a bible movie.

YOU SUCK IM RATING 1 STAR TOO. ok i saw the movie and i didn't get it. But i still liked it. But after someone explained it to me i got it. At the end there was a golden tree. Can someone explain it to me. Does it have to do with the garden of eden.

its basically the tree of life. lyk in the end God will destroy the world and make a new world and make heaven on it and we'll all live in peace and harmony for an eternity. thats y everthing was all beautiful, no cities, and all harmony. nd lyk the reason y we saw childeren nly was becuz childeren r basically innocent until a certain age so ya. its not the garden of eden exactly but it has the tree of life

Great job, you had like, three small things you didn't like about the movie, and you couldn't stop thinking about how much those three things annoyed you, so you didn't pay attention to the whole purpose of the alien/angel/beings. They deployed all of the disasters to find the kids that could predict the future. And the whole bit about the whispering, you're not funny.

Absolutely agree. I wanna know what religious group was behind this dogma dressed up as drama. Fantastic effects, great suspense in early to mid portions but there were early signals of the GOD stuff coming. The discussion on Determinism Vs Randomness; Meaningless Vs Purpose; Disenchanted son of a pastor offers his only son for salvation of mankind and then reconciles with the faith of his own father. A new heaven, a new earth to be procreated by children - the New Adam & Eve. Gimme a break!

Yah it was absolutely bad. But to its credit, the end of the world sequence was well put together. Seeing a solar flare kill us all left me unable to sleep for a night. Too the rest of the movie was shit on a piece of toilet paper. Good review though. The last good flick Nick Cage did that I saw was Ghostrider.

the other movie he talks about is signs!!!! because aliens/angels are in it? my girlfriend and i hated this movie. we wanted to see it too... but it was a HUGE bomb.
