  • I understand that your video post is a few years old but I just ran accross it today. Needless to say I can completely and utterly blown away...

I just would like to you know that you are making a difference in many peoples lives just by uploading a simple video. And for that I thank you. Very much so!

PS- oh! btw, if you don't mind me asking; what was your score on the MCAT?

  • WOW!

I'm only 14 and I'm just blown away!

    Well done mate!

  • Wow, I'm finishing my first semester of Medical School and I'm 22. This gives me a lot of inspiration. Congratulations

  • Richard I am truly happy for you. You inspire me. =)

I'm going to take pre-med classes starting next term. I'm confident that I will do well in those but right now my engineering marks aren't as high (definitely not high enough for med school requirements). Do you think I have a chance to get into med school if my pre-med grades are high, but my engineering marks are only average? I really want to become a doctor.. for the people.

  • Amazing

  • God bless you Richard! Way to go!

  • wow - good for you and here I am at 32 thinking I'm to old for med school - it gives me encouragement- thanks for sharing.

  • What a fucking inspiration. Way to go!!

  • Incredible story!!!!! Bravo!!!! you just motivated me!!! in premed now and im 30, great story!!! CONGRATS!!!!

  • You rock, doc! I am at a loss for words to tell you how awesome I think it is that you got up the nerve to pursue your dream of being a doctor. I mean, really, that is quite a task, sir. You are an inspiration to those who think that they are too 'old' too go back to school and learn how to do something new and interesting. All the best to your and yours!

  • Wow, my jaw dropped watching this. Very inspirational.

  • Richard, you are a stud!!! Good luck!!!

  • Nice man. I hope he won't treat niggers!

  • @PirateIt

    Are you fucking serious, asshole?

You stupid white piece of shit, you deserve to be shot in the head and have your dead body sodomized, burned to ashes, and tossed into the pacific ocean.

  • ure my hero!!!

  • Until I saw this I thought I was too old for Medical School and had given up on my dream. Thanks for kickstarting me.

  • Seeing this video is great. I am in school as of now studing business. I still want to drive but only with my own authority. I want to be an owner operator. i figure get the business skills I need to do it. I was told that its hard being your own boss. Well no on e said its gonna be easy either. I still wan to drive trucks, hopefully with my previous company or a good carrier that will be promising. Its up to me to persue it. the rest is in god's hands

  • Well Done Richard!

And to every person who feels old-

If there is a will; there is way-

    All the best and success

  • This is really inspiring me because I am thinking that I was too old to go to medical school at the age of 38. Great job I wish you all the success. It just shows nothing beats having a support team.

  • You're never to old really. As long as you have the motivation, its definitely possible.

  • Congratulations good luck!

  • Good for you Richard. Well done!

  • You are an inspiration for so many career changers. Good job!!

  • Awesome, best of luck for you !

  • You are an inspiration! Right now I am 23 I am still an undergrad student. I had to take off for finanical reasons and I was discouraged to find all my friends graduating this year. I am an EMT basic, and Real Estate Agent. I actually want to persue becoming a CPR instructor, paramedic, phelbotomist, and toxicology. You are an inspriation. I guess the saying "its never too late" is actually being put into affect....Thankz :)

  • if its your dream to become a physician then I would say take the extra courses and apply for med. school. It may be harder but its worth it. One more thing, you need to love working for people not money.

    Good Luck.

  • I should have dated the post... the piece ran in September 2004

I graduated with an MD in May 2008... doing a residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics

  • @keshavarzia2

Agreed. I do it all for people and not for money. Also, it would actually be the worst thing you can do to your dignity if you work only for money. Do it for morality.

  • @melallstar21

Of course it's never to late, especially if you're 23 WTF? Why are you acting like you're so old? LOL

  • good job!

did you find being an RN rewarding? I have a master's in health admin. and I want to switch top either a RN or a PA.

  • Awesome, thanks for posting, very inspiring. I thought I was too old for contemplating med school, I'm currently 27, but this video totally inspired me. Thanks so much!

  • man that's inspiring. im 21 and im waiting to get into nursing school right now to be an rn but I also really am considering to go into medical school i dont know what to do. im so confused???? i just need to take calc. physics and biochem i think but should i just go into nursing school or just take the remaining pre med courses? any advice would be much appreciated!

  • wow !

  • Iam starting this summer too! Did you have trouble with financing? Great job!

  • NO! The was not much of a scholar before so I had my full measure of undergrad financing. Medical school was free (with 2000/mo for expenses) IF I agreed to stay in Kansas after residency (its called KMS)

  • Thanks for posting! It helped convince me that I'm not crazy for seriously considering.

  • Nope, if it is your dream and you are prepared to do what it takes (I mean EVERYTHING on the table here)... there ain't NO reason you can't!

  • CONGRATS!!

    You're amazing!

  • Thank you sir!

While I did have to sit for all of the exams, I must give most of the credit to my wife who made the sacrifices for me to pull this off!

  • Lol,

    I'm a miss Dr.

    Anyways...goood job!

  • MS2 here. CONGRATS!
