I'm redoing my studio and my son asked me about my Seth Thomas metronome last night. There is a number printed on the bottom but even with a loupe, I couldn't decipher it. It has its cover and it is in perfect synch. Since I'm 77 and I believe I purchased this when I was a teenager, it may/must be at least sixty-years old.

ah, this isn't exactly an antique - I have one, it's about 40 years old. An antique typically is at least 100 years old. Does yours have the cover?

An antique has been defined as anything from over 25, 50, or 100 years old....it depends on who you ask and what it is. Also, the dictionary lists the definition very simply as "old-fashioned" or "belonging to an earlier time". I think these old metronomes fit that description considering that analog is of the past whereas digital is of the present and future.

i sold this one on ebay. I put a very detailed description and I only got like $30 net profit. The newer ones I hear are more accurate therefore better.

I have a Seth Thomas that looks exactly like this...it's got that slight lump in the timing as well (2nd tick is maybe 1 64th note fast)...anyways, how old are these things?
