If the USA and USSR switch off all nagivation system and satellite, the airplane (bomber) will lost its positioning, and the pilot has to aboard the mission.
I saw this when it came out on television, I believe it was a two part (two day) movie. I watched it late I had (and still) have a crush on Noah Wyle (known from his ER days).
Watched this last night. It was like 3 am and I didnt fall asleep until well after it was over. What a great movie. Takes you into the war room in real time where you are on your seat hoping they are able to shoot down the bomber. Great twist too when they propose an eye for an eye. Awesome movie! Watch it. People need to see these things. This is why a country like Iran should be restrained with military force so as to not get their hands on a warhead.
I remember staying glued to my TV when this was shown. I thought it was as good as the '64 original. I only wish this had encouraged other networks to do more live plays.
@TheKillerofhipies I thought this kind of movie it wants to strengthen the fear that nuclear weapons escape the power of their nations, I wish you luck in your job of killing hippies, an fanatic of U.S. to an amercian fanatic! ;)
A "peace" of shit." I like that. Did you purposely not spell "piece?" (Doubt it).
Since you followed it up with your comment about "assholes" this automatically, unequivically makes you an Internet Troll. How does that feel? Feel good?
This 2000 version is total shit. None of the actors seem to even be trying. The 1964 original was dark and haunting. And full of seriously good actors.
The 2000 version is just horrible. I'm not buying Dreyfus as the president, and Keitel is pretty typecast to in the hipster movies...He sure isn't believable as a general.
This WAS a great remake...but it didn't scare me like the original did when I was a kid. I probably watched the original when I was much younger than what the intended viewing audience would have been, though.

someone took the word "remake" to seriously. This movie is 100 pct same as the original only different actors. Why to watch then?

@wookie72
The 1964 film was based upon a novel published in 1962.

Probably because the ending of the original was so quirky and surreal.
By the way, cool user name. Caught a hundred pound sturgeon with a twenty pound test.
