Nothing but wonderful memories of this guy and his crazy show.

  • I went to see him at a personal appearance at Gimbels at 69th Street in Upper Darby. Hundreds of kids. He was such an important part of my life

  • Dr. Shock. You were the Saturday afternoons of my childhood!

  • cant remember was this chanel 17 or 48?

  • Channel 17.

These are great memories from my Philly childhood. Thank you Joe K... RIP!

  • houndz11 I was There! I remember all the sinbad movies played on Dr Shocks show, IT The terror from beyond space, 20 million miles to earth, Jason and the argonauts, and many many more! Thanks for flash back!

  • I lived in NJ as a kid, way high on a hill (no trees) and we had a rotating antenna and had GREAT reception due to these factors, and in the early 70's-mid 80's WPHL 17 is one of the stations we got.

Dr. Shock was one of our faves! He passed away in 1977 and there was a huge tribute to him on Channel 17. His real name was Joe Zawislak, and either he was Zacherley's understudy (or vice versa.)

In any case he was fun to watch and I miss those days a LOT..RIP Dr. Shock, we love ya! :)

  • I watched his double Saturday afternoon features for many years as achild in the 1970s. RIP.
