Jean Michel Jarre is fantastic and well what can you say about the great Hank Marvin for joining him. Brilliant. Let's hope they meet again for a performance in the UK soon.
I would be sooo pleased if someone have a recording of this without using Dolby noise reduction, its the best version Hank and Jean playing together ever.
Well, I had to wait 21 years, but now I've finally seen this version of "London Kid." Shame on all British TV channels for never showing this at the time. Eternal shame.
Far better than the original, maybe even better if Jarre had asked Mike Oldfield to play the guitar part with MO's unique finger-picking style of playing instead of using a pick like Hank does
Yes, it's Jean-Michel Jarre and Hank Marvin from The Shadows or if you can't see it's them you are blind :) And Hank Marvin was in Australia, when Jarre contacted him for the first time :) Listening to London Kid I have heard better, when JMJ had his concert in Destination Docklands in London :)
It is Hank Marvin. Jarre and him wrote this song originally over the phone and played it live a few times together. This of course being one of those times.
>This version is better than the original. Outstanding
I agree. There is a warm and substantial feel of fullness to this one, right from the beginning. Although I grew up with the album and docklands version,it now seems weak until the later stages. But this version grabs attention right away, and I love the switch at 4:07. It's so unlike the usual version of it.
Ah,this one. Despite it being disliked by so many, and despite it being so far removed from the early works of Jarre that first sparked my interest in him, there is something about this song that always tugs on my heart strings and always makes me feel a sense of 'nostalgia'. What for? The 1980s perhaps? (the 80s were coming to a close at this time, of course). Who knows? The later parts of this 'particular' performance have a nice variation on things too. Cheers for posting this one.

It wasn't the official celebration of 100th birthday of tour Eiffel, it was the TV's celebration, introduce by Michel Drucker and Julio Iglesias, Jean-Michel Jarre wasn't alone one stage this evening
quel talent Jean-Michel Jarre, Français né à Lyon. Bravo, super plaisir de découvrir ses images. j'adore London Kid, j'aurai aimé que JM la joue plus souvent.
I never knew he did this. Much prefer this version although it still drags as a song. Odd to play London Kid in Paris but hey... Was there any more to this concert?

Simplemente fascinante, un genio entre los genios, se le echan de menos conciertos de ese estilo.

what a brilliant idea, now seeing them playing this live in a couple of weeks would make the concert.

Semantics, semantics! It might have been a performance as part of a larger concert with other artists.
I hate how tone is misinterpreted sometimes....

I was only referring to Jarre's part in the festivities :P

Nope, only London Kid, thus making it more of just a 'performance' rather than a 'concert' ;)
