Look at it from a movie makers perspective. Changing the pin scene was actually a good idea. In the books we could hear Katniss' thoughts. She loved prim and thought about her all the time. In the movies we can only SEE not read her mind. It's nicer this way I think.

The 512 above are apart of that 7.5 million. To the true Hunger Games fans you know who you are. Guys.... chill. In one of the previews it shows Cinna hiding Katniss' pin underneath her jacket before she heads off to the arena. She does have the pin. Madge was not at all important to the plot. They got rid of her to strengthen the bond between Katniss and Prim, which was FAR MORE IMPORTANT to the series. The only important thing Madge does in the book is give Katniss the pin.
So Katniss just HAS the Mockingjay pin with her to give to Prim? I thought Madge gave it to Kat for representation..where would she have gotten it in the movie then? Guess we'll see.

@artaeun actually, haymitch fought in the 50th hunger games, so when he did he was some age between 12 and 18. This shows him at the 74th hunger games as a mentor for the new tributes, 24 years later. That would mean his MAXIMUM age at the time would be 42. So yes, he is a middle aged alcoholic.
@mizzhotdog 1 If you hate this, you'll hate Battle Royale more. Battle Royale has absolutely no lesson whatsoever. I just beg you to please give this a chance. It is sick, and that's the whole point. The plot of the books is to try and take down the incredibly sick Capitol...BATTLE ROYALE is simply about fighting to the death. Nothing more.

Has anyone else read the books and enjoyed them but found them completely emotionally heart wrenching?
As much as I fall in love with characters and enjoy the unique plot, the plot is so twisted (well I guess you can blame the book's form of government really) that I found myself on an emotional roller coaster and up all night thinking about it. :(
I'm very surprised with this cast, as I wish Peeta would have been a taller bit more stocky guy. Lenny Kravitz as Cinna is pretty exciting! I'm very eager for this movie. It's also very ironic that this book is about the horrors of a nation watching people die for their entertainment, when very soon this movie will be released so we can watch people "die" for our entertainment.
I seriously had no idea Elizabeth Banks was Effi! She looks so different! Anyways, I'm halfway through the book, and I seriously can't wait for this to come out. I hope they didn't change too much!

@kickinphillysugar I agree that it's nothing like Twilight (either in plot or character development or the deeper themes of the novels), but I think people will always compare YA fiction which could be considered fantasy/adventure, especially if they both feature a main female character and a love triangle (even though the love triangle in THG doesn't play even half as much a part as it does in Twilight). I think people will realise that THG is on a completely different level when they see it.
@kickinphillysugar Hunger Games is nothing like Twilight for the fact that the Hunger Games aren't a crock of absolute shit. Also, Katniss kicks ass, has a personality, and won't mentally shut down when her sparkly fairy boyfriend leaves her.

@SibelTeresaSaran its just weird, some of the them are near perfect but thought Peeta would be a bit more baker son like i.e taller and slightly larger; more standoutish or predominate (not like Gale)
Thought President Snow would be a small but powerful man like a "small man with a big ego"
And i defiantly didnt picture Haymitch to be blonde or look generally like the actor who plays him
There r more but if the writer was involved in picking them then they must suit what she thought.

@kickinphillysugar I agree that it's nothing like Twilight (either in plot or character development or the deeper themes of the novels), but I think people will always compare YA fiction which could be considered fantasy/adventure, especially if they both feature a main female character and a love triangle (even though the love triangle in THG doesn't play even half as much a part as it does in Twilight). I think people will realise that THG is on a completely different level when they see it.

@kickinphillysugar Hunger Games is nothing like Twilight for the fact that the Hunger Games aren't a crock of absolute shit. Also, Katniss kicks ass, has a personality, and won't mentally shut down when her sparkly fairy boyfriend leaves her.
