So he wrote this song, because Johnny was extremely right-wing and was always making "jokes" about blacks and Jews.

Read Monte Melnick's "On the Road With The Ramones"-- he was their road manager for their entire 22-year career. The story is in there (with dozens of others). It's a great read.

There were a LOT of things that should have killed the band-- DeeDee's raging non-stop drug abuse (and oh yeah he was also bipolar), Marky's raging alcoholism (till he got sober), Johnny being an unbending 24-7 hyper-critical asshole, and the overall lack of ANY radio play or critical recognition at all. But goddam, they hung in there,,, and I for one am glad they did :)

But I was reading "I Slept With Joey Ramone" and according to his brother, Joey first makes the reference to the "KKK" phrase when a girl he met in a mental institution parents took her away. He had referred to her parents as the "KKK" because of their disapproval of their interracial relationship. Then again, I guess only Joey can say for sure.
