Yes, diru and despa have always been my favourite jrock bands. (although my favourite japanese band ever has got to be Galneryus) its their unique sound that differs from other jrock bands that sparked my interest in them. Im well aware of diru's transition, which I enjoy btw but as for despa, they've strayed and are beginning to "fit into the mainstream sound", which isnt always a bad thing; but for them i believe it is.(Hizumi still has a very unique voice by the way) : )

And D'espairsray isn't changing terribly, they're jsut moving outside most people's comfort zones. People tend to limit themselve to one general area of music. If you like metal, then yo can appreciate rock, but if it gets too popish you're a bit repelled. Personally, I think the new stuff is great.

obviously nearly all people here didnt realize that they changed their "darker" style after coll:set. From the mirror album on it was a new sound, they didn't change from mirror to redeemer. And their on-stage performance stayd the same, compare the liquidize 06 / spiral staircase and their performance today. It changed since murderday (pre-mirror-era), not yesterday. So I cant understand why al these people suck their anger about redeemer and final call and coment it here not under mirror songs

While certainly there was a change from Coll:Set to Mirror, there still definitely was also a change from Mirror to Redeemer.

Redeemer is good in that it sort of serves everyone. Lizard is a send-back to coll:set, while Kamikaze fits in the closest with their Mirror songs. Brilliant and Horizon were their first moves towards the sound they seem to be driving at with Redeemer. Redeemer itself is actually a rather unique song on their album.

Pretty good, but still not super great. I think it sounds like Gackt. Which is good. Gackt is what you want to sound like in J-Pop. Other J-Pop tends to be pretty boring.

The problem lies, however, in the fact that Despa is TRYING to become J-Pop. Obviously, they have their artistic license to do whatever they want, and I'll respect them for it. But I admit I'm another one of those people who looks back to the 'glory days' of coll:set.

Yeah, Redeemer had a big variety of songs. Lizard sounded like coll:set, kamikaze like Mirror, Paradox 5 was an experimental song, Brilliant was a bit of a bridge from Mirror to the new Redeemer sound, Horizon, etc. embodied Redeemer. Redeemer itself was rather unique. Lost in Rebirth sound a bit like Redeemer, and also reminds me slightly of the original screamo movement.

Lots of variety. Not a one-sound band in the slightest.

I love this song, I've seen many comments about their Coll:set times and I agree I liked them too. I'm still undecided over which style of music I prefer from them but it doesn't matter anyways. Hizumi's voice is still fantastic and the style may be different but the band is still the same.

As I wrote already in another comment (I tried to find the japanese blog again to be sure of my translation, so I deleted the old comment of mine), there will be some "rap" in "Going on". The person wrote even "it feels like it is not Despa". I just tried to read a bit the magazine Shoxx, and the interviewer talks about some "hiphop element" in the song, according to my poor japanese. "Final Call" sounds "only" ok, "Going on" has rap, "Ark in the storm"=?
