It was just some little colony the British had established in some backwaters part of the world so there was really no reason to hold on to something that was nowhere near as profitable as the Caribbean islands. Oh, and the British weren't really fighting any wars at the time. It was just after the 7 years war so the economy was in ruins

My greatest battle was on Rome: Total War. My last army just outside my last settlement got attacked by a large Julii force made of archers, horsemen and strong Urban Cohort units, bout 500in total.

My small GAul force of 200chosen swordmen and one General horse unit charged the Julii force and we lost the battle but killed most of the opposing army meaning I could recruit a stronger armed force and take over more area. Thanks to my brave virtual martyrs.

I love ETW except that campaigns are too easy on normal difficulty and on higher difficulties it's fine except countries just declare war on you for no good reason and the diplomacy just becomes ridiculously historically inaccurate. I should probably look for a good mod.

you arent giving history enough credit. Think about only having 299 other men by your side, running off of nothing more than adrenaline and willpower up against 10,000 more experienced warriors. The spartans did more than delay, they saved their land by doing so, the persians failed to take the rest of spartan and greek land BECAUSE those roughly 300 men demoralized them that much, and they sent them on the wrong path..get your history straight..plz

il think you'll find it was the Athenians who defeated the Persians at mathathon and lets not for get the few hundred thespians and Thebans Leonidas had with his Spartans he was out numbered and out flanked they were simply a small delay. and one other thing one of the main reasons the Persians didnt take sparta is 1. They were beaten by the Athenians

other than that, i agree with you. the 300 spartans led an army of at least 5000 (historical sources and modern guesstimates), and they were still but a minor annoyance to xerxes' armies. what really caused the 2nd invasion to fail was the defeat of the persian navy, which xerxes need to go around the, by then, dug in greek armies.

This game can be really hard to play. Its all about tactics and formations in battle. In campaign you have to make friends and keep up trading and defend your land. Its so great :D
