"wanted to write something larger than life and a bit camp." Such an endeavor of shooting for such an epic sound lends itself to camp and cheesiness, but that's what I find so brilliant. It actually somehow avoids cheese and pulls through with larger than life. I think the orchestral arrangements were really tasteful too which probably had something to do with it.

He was talking about Natalie here. They broke up for a while and she was rumored to have dated Chris from Coldplay for a while. He also wasn't joking. Sometimes when you're sad you can write better music, but he triumphed with the making of Diorama, which focused on his happiness.

Well, in progression you should start from their first album, Frogstomp. But if you want to get 'into' them, You should start from Neon Ballroom cause that was an awesome album =)

I would recommend starting with Freak, and then Neon Ballroom. Gotta totally get into Diorama as preparation for Young Modern. YM is totally different from Diorama, but in a way there may be some hints of YM in Diorama... and this is coming from a chick who mainly listens to R&B and Hip Hop, so this is a testimony that this band is the real deal.
