I love the Clive Burr years, when BD first came on board he gave it his all, see 1982 videos. Paul style Maiden was short lived, two great albums, better off if they did not get so big so fast after they got the record deal. Sort of reminds me of Amy Winehouse, two great albums and then self destructed on drugs and alcohol. I think they would of both been happier playing at the clubs and avoided the pressures of mega venues and instant fame. Two down to earth talents.

Paul was great for his (early) time with the band. Bruce took the thing to a whole other level and is great in his own right. The only one I find below Maiden standard is Blaze. I fail to dig why one has to put Paul or Bruce down in favor of one or the other.

So Maiden were seeking bigger commercial success? and Paul just wanted to stay where they were? I love Iron Maiden with Bruce, but Paul fucking rocks too. Despite the fact that he didnt like the direction Maiden's music was taking and that the drugs were fucking him up ( which he admits ) my respects to Paul cuz he stuck to his guns, refused to get on the bandwagon and sell out!

Maiden did not play at the 81 Reading Festival A few things that he says are wrong....And also by the way, Dennis Stratton is wrong when he say that Shakin Stevens played This Ole House the same day as Maiden Played Running Free live on TOTP....This Ole House came out in 1981...Also Di'anno said there was 2000 copies of the Soundhouse Tapes, There were 5000.

the one thing you can NEVER accuse Maiden of, is sellin out to ANYBODY. They are no Metallica. Now, those are real sellouts. And Bruce is by faaaaar better vocalist than Dianno will ever be.

It hit rock bottom with the god-awful Blaze period....

Well I dont believe I called them bad. Nothing Maiden has done is bad in my eyes (or in my ears :D)... Its just that, for me, the albums with Paul rank at the bottom. Its not even just Paul, its also the sound or style of the music which is very different from notb and onwards. Not my favourite, lets just say that.

But... different people, different tastes. If it makes you feel great, thats awesome.

Yes, much rather listen to the stuff recorded with Bayley. Maiden is my fav band ever, but the sound of the first two albums was never my thing. And anything I have heard with Paul since was so-so. By contrast Bayley's solo stuff is excellent.

But in the spirit of talking the language of youtube retards (since my polite post below must have seriously provoked you): there is something seriously fucked with you... or something.

That documentary is NOT an official Iron Maiden product. Its made by fans, so they couldnt use Iron Maiden's music cause of the copyrights.
