  • gto66: People merely talk about innocuous cereal memories from the 1960s and you start foaming at the mouth about drugs? Take your Geritol and relax already. Don't sit around on the computer doing searches for "ritalin" to find places to post your idiotic rants.

  • Don't remember the cereal, but I disagree about the Ritalin.

A big part of the troubles we Boomers brought on ourselves comes from our failure to be self-disciplined. "If it feels good Do IT!" does not lend itself to raising strong minded, self-directed, goal oriented and self sufficent kids... So we turned to the buddies we had in our teens...DRUGS!. Where has that left our kids and grandkids? Third rate students behind Red China for God Sakes! Think about it!

  • Gotta try Banana Toast Cereal by Post. it's grrreat!

  • Banana flavor cereal yuck!

  • Gods, I wish they still made this cereal! It was Lucky Charms with a great Banana Flavor on the marshmallow bits. fromthesidelines is right...it wasn't around for very long...but it certainly left an impression on me as a kid. Will SOMEONE please stop taking the sugar and flavor out of cereal?!!?

  • @EmilWMiller I agree. The problem isn't the sugar and the flavor, making kids obese, its because when WE were kids, we were outside playing and getting lots of exercise, unlike kids nowadays who sit in front of the TV, computer and video games. I liken it to how the leftists who blame guns for killing people.

  • Wow--I never heard of this brand before.

  • "Wackies" wasn't on grocers' shelves for long (1965-'66), but the commercials were great!

  • Yes I remmeber because I was in the 2nd grade in 1965 and I think this hit the market late winter-early spring! Great memory FROM!

  • I remember liking these as a toddler but, as you noted, they didn't last too long. In my memory they were pushed by the Peanuts kids. This cartoon character looks a little like Peanuts. A banana marbits cereal would sell, I think.
