Chickens are capable of living perfectly happy lives mutant or not. The important bit is how we treat them. They need space to roam around in, no more than about 25 chickens per (pen isn't the right word but i hope you get what i mean) so they can establish a proper pecking order. And ofcourse feed them good food, socialize them, and make sure their death is instantanious so they don't have to feel pain.
