I actually adopted Tamair while he was at Paradise Wildlife Park. Hw is the most amazing tiger i have ever seen. Will Def be going to WHF to see him again
I've just come back from work experience at WHF and had just such an amazing time. Tamair is georgeous. Correct me if i'm wrong but isn't that Ronja at the end?
According to a long-time employee of the IOW zoo, Padmini's parents were Shere Khan & Tamyra, DOB 24 Dec 1992 (making her a pure-bred Indian tiger if this is correct). This pair (however) also had a litter of 4 on 25 July 1993 - does that mean Pads was hand-raised because of the closeness of the dates?
Aww, Tam Tam. I was privileged enough to do my work placement for 5 weeks at this place back in April/May and loved every second of it. But I do miss the cats terribly and all the staff and volunteers. Doesn't surprise me at all that Tamair wouldn't go for the bribe, he's not an easy cat to persuade (even if you are poking him with a drumstick lol).
The clips of Ronja confused me little though. I was like 'well thats not tamair'.
Aww but so nice to see everyone there. Thanks for this.
Yeah, I exercised a little bit of artistic license. On the day, after the move, we were all asked to leave so Tamair could slowly come around. Which of course meant there was no film of Tamair in his new enclosure fully recovered. And I think ending the film with just the vet standing over a motionless tiger might bother some people, where as ending it with Ronja walking around (and only people who've worked at WHF would know the difference) seemed more appropriate and positive.
I've been lucky enough to visit the WHF in Kent twice now and have another visit planned for August. The animals are all very well looked after and cared for by the staff who are almost all volunteers. I've currently adopted Puna who is a beautiful Sumatran tiger and is part of a breeding programme. This is a great charity to support and help protect these beautiful animals from extinction.
Hopefully Puna and Nias will be successful and have cubs in the near future :). There is an open day in July or August, is that the one you're coming to? My family helps design and make some of the merchandise WHF sell to help fund themselves :)
poor tiger walking all dazed and confused near the end... All drugged up from stupid humans for there viewing pleasures... They should just leave it in the wild and let it be
Sure, in an ideal world where there are no poachers or fearful farmers causing them to become critically endangered. This is part of a breeding program to repopulate the wild because of the threat of man. They're not there for viewing pleasure, they're there to ensure the next generation can go back into the wild when there is less of a threat. Please, get your facts straight first.
Just a word of advice. Get a small trolley or platform with wheels attached at the bottom so that you guys can push the cage to the vehicle. It will save a lot of backs, especially with the way u guys are carrying it. Secondly WHY would you want to carry the tiger if it is NOT SEDATED? Is that wise? Other than that good luck in your work from Pakistan.
Each time an animal is sedated it is at risk, and the longer the animal is out for the more at risk it can be. Makari, the siberian tiger now in Tamair's enclosure happily walked into his crate and walked out again.
Thanks for the comment. They're all beautiful cats down there, and it's a crime there are so few left in the wild because of man. Charities like this are a step in the right direction to hopefully one day re-populating their native lands.
Great video, nasty crack

How much did he weigh - is it 390 pounds? (I assume you're weighing him at 7.50).
siberianpaws 3 years ago
Working at a conversion rate of 2.2lbs per kg, he weighs 208KGs or 457.6lbs.
KJGould 3 years ago
About 33 stone, then. Either way it's a lot of PT Altaica!
Do you happen to know who Padmini's parents were, BTW? (if not don't worry as I can prob find out).

I don't off hand. It might be in a stamp book.

That would suck real bad if these cats were extinct, nice to see people trying to prevent this from happening to such an awesome creature.

What ways do you propose to move a tiger? Using jetpacks?
Good video, mate. Keep up the good work, and ignore the ignorant comments.
