that "bang" at :19 is the landing gear going down. that was a nice landing, but due to the amount of gear on the A380 the landing sounded very loud. great vid!
It was a good landing, and about the bang while extend the flap sometimes are happen due to a big flap with it's significant temperature change to the mechanical parts.
@JaneSanFrancisco I AM NOT SURPRISED HE WAY THEY LAND THEM you dont see many good landings watching these video's,I bet any money the first time one crashes they will put it down to pilot error.
that was the gear, then you have the flap motors noise. that was not a VERY hard landing you moron, that was a firm landing, you have to put the aircraft on the ground on the touchdown zone, you dont want to float and go off the end of the runway. before you make stupid remarks rather do some research like ask a pilot, hopefully you are not a pilot..
@MisterSunson Wrong,Wrong and wrong the 747 is 40 years old and has had it's fair share of problems the cracks were in bolts all it meant was them being checked mire often...Boeing found cracks on the 787 months after delivery the 767 cracks in the engine mounts the 737 and 757 are well known for fuselage cracks
@MisterSunson the cracks were found on the wing rib, not the entire wing span. When an aircraft is newly released, you should expect minor issues, like the 747 had with its cargo doors, which caused United Air 811 to explosive decompression. The Boeing 747 idea was also initially thought to cause 'catastrophic' accidents, and it has indeed, in some cases done that. So rather than criticizing, we should focus on what engineers can do to rectify those mistakes and make flight safer than before.
Seems to be pretty much standard A380 landing style. It's like they try to make a half hearted attempt flair the things a little, but usually just give up on finessing the behemoths and just slam 'em into the runway.
WTF with this plane, you don't hear nothing of the engines , just a light sound like the wind! but when flaps are being expanded , you think you're hearing the landing gears going down!!!
@AviationEnthusiastic You have no proof falsifying my statement, if you have knowledge of flying commercial airliner, then I stand to be corrected. If you do or know something post it, otherwise, your statement is invalid
@fernousdu972 Epic failure. Do your research son. Orders and confirmed orders are different, airbus declared the orders for the fiscal year, as beoing as in the process of 787 and completing previous orders. Airbus never gave out the planes they declared because a few corps cancled orders.
@aky19832001 Negative. You just have to compare before replying: B747-8I: Lufthansa (20), Korean Air (5), Transaero (4) and Arik Air (2)... while the A380 has 259 CONFIRMED orders.
i have herd that same sound on 5 vid when they bring flaps down y is that air bus you so good wtf is that sound or do you need to kill before you lok at it
It's a normal landing for the A380. There was enough flare, he didn't retard at 50, and for gods sake he did not underestimate the runway length at JFK. For one, this is a regular AF route and it's likely that the pilots have been there before, and two they have charts for the airport, and no way in hell he would underestimate the runway length. The A380 tends to land harder than the other planes, because of it's massive weight, and some other factors. Please do not talk BS.
He didn't give enough power, on landing, he may have set idle at 50 feet and may have underestimated the runway leghten. Although JFK has a pretty large runway.
@aky19832001 I'm sorry to tell you, but that's just not true. Pilots are pretty familiar with the runways, even if they have never flown to JFK, which is highly unlikely, so there is no way they would "underestimate the runway length". It's a normal landing for an A380.
Airbus in general tends to be nosier in terms of parts operating and internal componantest making all sorts of odd noises. I've been flying for 20 about 7-12 a year years and You can blind me at this and I would be able to differentiate between a Boeing and airbus simply from the noise and the way certain things operate. A 30 year old 747 made less noise when the flaps extended and retracted and things were solidly held in place.
Seriously, we see people complaining about how bad a pilot is in landing the plane, when those complainers dont even know how to fly one. you should be happy that you are able to walk of the plane man. if not shut up and fly your own plane to where u want to go.
@Aussiephil99 exactly. i saying this because im aiming to be a pilot in 3 year's time, and i hate to see this professional occupation insulted by losers.
I've flown the A380, and there was a lot of noise when I landed in it too (Frankfurt, Lufthansa). I think the landing was pretty good, it's just the size of the massive plane that makes it feel harder than what it really is.
Passengers... sometimes are a bit stupid... sorry, but I'm pilot, and this landing was not hard at all... obviously, you dont know what's a hard landing is lol. A plane can support 600 feet/min on impact. Believe a hard landing, you would feel hurt in your back, and many luggage from compartment would drop. And the plane would go directly to the maintenance for a check. (landing gear and airframe ) PLease stop writing stupid things, go back to school to study, physics, newton etc...
@Bugy34 it's not hard for you because you're a pilot, but for who don't fly too much like passengers or who have fear of planes, they will find it hard, it's like a bad surprise for them!
@alSation81 You're simply wrong, Airbus a380 needs less runway than the B747 (-200,-300-400....) to take off and land. So any airport that is able to operate with a 747 can operate with the A380
B747-400 Distance: 3.018 m of runway to take off (in MTOW)
A380-800 Distance: 2.750 m of runway to take off (in MTOW)
@ll01026 That's just not true. Can you please don't say shit for stuff you obviously know rats about. An entire airport does not consist only from the runway, There are taxiways, there is a tarmac, terminal, airport services, emergency services and so on. There are plenty of airports which can service the 747 just fine, but are not even close to the requirements to service a 380.
@ceco150495 Yeah, that's true, I've failed saying that any airport is able to operate a a380 but i was saying it in therms of runway necessary to take off, I just didn't think about other things to say that, you're totally true, but in addition with what i have said before, it's not necessary to build larger runways
Are you seeking truth? Search for "Truth Contest" in Google and click the 1st result, then click on "The Present" to open it. What it says will blow your mind.
@daTERRORIZER That has nothing to do with how the plane flies. Can give mild static over the radio when talking to ATC. Don't have a heart attack there, big guy.
@daTERRORIZER Lol retard youtube is full of videos recorded from cockpit by pilots and other crew members. Only electronic devices that transmit signal such as phones can possibly harm airplanes systems, cameras and others like that can do nothing. They are just forbidden because in modern world there is so many different devices that it would be hard to flight attendants to find out which one is forbidden and which one is not.
@daTERRORIZER a camera isnt going to have an effect on a plane by electronics they mean no phones, computers, or any other devices that uses radio waves cuz THOSE will disrupt the communications with the plane and tower camera dont have an effect
@hiphoplegend1 And you would have lost. Unless they do something like crashing the plane due to pilot error, you'll have a nearly impossible chance of winning a lawsuit. Until you've tried to land a large aircraft a few thousand times, don't complain about the way they put you on the ground. Unless they kill you, then you have reason to complain.
@hiphoplegend1 Suing them because they took 250 tons with maybe 500 passengers safely to the gate??LOL... you would have been broke after that suing :P LOL

A HARD LANDING ........ / TOUCH DOWN means.
Dropping down the plane from over 10 feet with high vertical speed due loss of uplift.
May be the fellow was sitting very near to the main gear and so he had the feeling due hydraulical effects; but only the feeling!
The touch down was standard and OK!

@hiphoplegend1 That was a great landing. Everyone walked away from the aircraft and it was used again that same day.

@OneSkiWonder that was a shitty landing...my balls would have been in major pain after a landing like that...I would have sued!
hiphoplegend1 4 months ago
@hiphoplegend1 And you would have lost. Unless they do something like crashing the plane due to pilot error, you'll have a nearly impossible chance of winning a lawsuit. Until you've tried to land a large aircraft a few thousand times, don't complain about the way they put you on the ground. Unless they kill you, then you have reason to complain.

@hiphoplegend1 Suing them because they took 250 tons with maybe 500 passengers safely to the gate??LOL... you would have been broke after that suing :P LOL
