  • wow! no guts? nice

  • great video....with bluegill being on the smaller side i usually de-head and de-tail (haha) and remove the guts, scales, and fins before frying. Problem with that is the bones.....

bluegill is delicious and i hate wasting the meat, but this technique looks like it's worth a shot. Your pop has some skills. meticulous. thanks!

  • HA HA HA HA!!!!!! And the fish don't feel it? They love it! OMG I laughed my ass off at that.

  • there's something fishy about this video...

  • never had anyone to show me how to fish...

  • What kind of fish are those that you caught?

  • i love seeing experience

  • excuse me but is this effective? i have to skin the bluegill for my brothers cause i couldn't catch any.

  • Love the old timer stories.

  • great stuff guys......your dad seems like a really nice dude.

  • Hey r u guys in roann Indiana and nice vid

  • Eat those nice skins, dude.

  • i don't get why people fillet these. It's not a trout or samon. Just eat it with the skin.. just don't eat the skin if u don't like it.

  • if you scale it well you dont even have to skin it

  • This is a great video, reminds me of my dad a little. Nice fillet job!

  • Wow. When I flyfish with my dad, I just Knock them out, Cut the head off... Load them with butter and seasoning salt.. Maybe a little spice, fry them and de-bone them... YUM!

  • Enjoyed the organ...

  • this worked great!!

  • @hawk433 excuse me can you recommend this method?

  • @adellianita yes i do i used it for blue gills to bass to catfish i watched the video a couple times drew a digram now i'm a pro you get alot of your meat to once you get good at it.

  • I keep the skin on and take the scales off... how can you eat it without the skin that's the best part!

  • thats also the most contaminated part of a fish

  • remove the lateral line and cook it!!!! contaminated.......

  • try 300 a day for 7 days straight.....you'll find way to get faster.

  • it is easy

  • He makes it look so easy!

  • Nice job, flap too. I fillet my fish the same way and boy those BG's are so good!

  • when he said "they love it" , man that's about the funniest thing I ever heard lol. He's a good fish "fillet-er"

  • Oh...I see what I did WRONG now--I didn't cut properly! Your dad sure is the Professor of Fish Fillet--That is for sure! The next trout I get, better BEWARE! I will KNOW what I have to do :)

  • Great vid,! Your dad is a stand up guy! You know I did that when I was alot younger, so it was a brush up lesson for me! Keep up the cool stuff Jeff! See ya, Dave

  • HA Its like shearing fish. Makes em more comfortable.. LOL great lessons for some good ole filets!

  • Wow - Papa Squigg is talented and funny just like his son! "They love it!" lol

I grew up with a trout stream in my backyard. I love to go fishing. Now I know how to filet 'em, thanks!

  • Sorry about the withdrawals...I hope you're doing all right now!

  • Yes....I am feeling much better! :)

  • Where are all the Cats?

  • Somewhere over the rainbow.....getting licked.

  • A man after my own heart------I kill shit all the time...possums,armidillos,hogs,bums...you know shit like that !! great video!

  • Bums!? Hell, I wonder what they taste like?

  • That was GREAT!

  • Serve that with some of my free spinach!

  • Spinach and fish? YUCK!

  • Hey! I think they are a great combination, especially with rice.

  • Wrapped in spinach, with a 3 cheese sauce, broccoli, and rice, yeah!

  • hope your not charging much.. i don't have much.. looks yummy..

  • Free, actually.

  • One's Filet Knife must be very sharp. Perhaps I should have uploaded the Halibut fileting video?

    Kewl, Jeff....

  • yes indeed, my fellow fisherman!

  • I wondered if you were on vacation... It does me good to see you relaxing with your Dad...

  • Oh yes, I love fishing!

  • Your dad makes that look easy. Oh man I can just taste them rolled in flour and fried...mmmm

  • They are very tasty!

  • I wondered what you've been up to... Makes me miss my dad. :-( Enjoy him.

  • Vacation! Fishing!

  • Something smells fishy around here?

Yes, I did just say that. :D

  • Sniff sniff? yeah, you're right!

    What is that smell?

  • Your dad is a pro at that! You look just like him! This vid reminds me of why I don't fish. Tell your dad, if he'll clean'em, I'll fry'em up!

  • He loves to clean fish!

Soon he will pass down the art of fish cleaning to me!

  • Your dad is awesome! he looks great...when was this filmed?

  • Last week!

    Thanks!

  • he didnt clean the poor fish! he butchered them. D:

  • Cleaning them is another term for butchering them so you can eat them!

    Sorry about the confusion.

  • Hey, your dad is HANDY to have around! Esp. for fish cleaning! You look JUST like your daddy!

  • Thank you!

  • so talented!!!!

  • Thanks!

  • I Envy your father/son moment

  • Thank you very much!

  • Your dad's glasses almost looks like Carl's. Hello, Squigg's dad, and welcome back, Jeff.

  • Thanks Erl!

  • I think I still prefer fish from cans and frozen cardboard boxes

  • NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooo!!!

You don't know what you are missing!

  • No doubt. Salmon is the king where I live...and not from a can...LOL

  • LOL perch? Boneyest fish in the world.

    He cleans em wierd though.

  • Actually, the fish you see here are bluegill, and the Fish Professor has 55 years of experience.

  • It's been 25 years since I fished for Bluegill, first time I ever went fishing with my dad we caught about 30 of em. But never caught em again.

I remember them tasting pretty good though.

That isn't the way we clean fish in my family.

You stick your knife in their Asshole, run it along their belly to the head take out all the guts, then wash out the cavity. Cut the head off at a certain spot... We don't fille them though, that wastes alot of meat imo.

  • I didn't see a can of beer isn't that a required tool for the task?

  • The Fish Professor doesn't drink very often, only when eating the fish, not when cleaning them.

  • Good idea with the sharp knifes and such XD

  • A master at work

  • Your pop's has some good skills with the filet knife bro.

5 stars, gonna favorite this one.

  • Thank you very much! He's very good at what he does!

  • Great technique. When we clean a lot of fish we actually use an electric knife. It doesn't work well on smaller pan fish though.

I've buried many a bucket of fish guts in my day. Good video, and great to see you back on the tube.

  • The Fish Professor recommends that you dump all fish guts back into the lake or pond you were fishing in....because the fish feed off of it.

  • your Dad rocks! Five stars!

  • Thank you very much! I love him to!

  • Good times! Cool dad!, dDo a vid on cooking them please?

    5*z

  • That sounds like a great project!

  • squiggy,

your back....Now that's what I call a top notch cut!!!!

    Thanks for the class dad:)

  • Vacation was amazing! Thank you very much!

  • so your dad is a motor head also.

I was wondering where u got to. I'm glad you finally fixed the "problem" u had with your dad and u r now on talking terms with him. Believe me....I know

  • We've always been on talking terms, but some things are just hard to bring up. The past is the past and all is forgiven....

...some things don't need to be said, they are just understood.

  • nothin wrong with that.

  • I love dads. What a neat guy!

  • He is full of fish wisdom.

  • Wish white tail were like that.

Nice mystery story commentary. Could be a promoted/featured video.

You dads pretty cool. Hes gona get hit on by all the 50+ sprickets. Better get him snappie YouTube name and a channel.

Mabey you could do a how to cook em video.

    You use a wok?

  • That's an idea! NO, a deep fryer!
