There was something about Jake Roberts. I have often wondered, first, if he could have controlled his demons, and 2, if he had come along a little bit later on in history, if he could not have made it in Hollywood. You look at the promos,(his voice especially) the ring psychology, the man had real, serious acting talent. Add to that his look (not a big muscle bound guy) I could really see him in the movies.

fantastic video.from what i hear on wrestlezone he is wrestling his retirement match this weekend,who know's in wrestling though.

i hope he takes advantage of wwe's offer to all current or former workers for free rehab.after he gets clean i hope the wwe honor him by putting him in the hall of fame and maybe hire him to work on tuff enough or be a road agent.

he can teach the wrestlers today so much about what to do in the ring and what not to do outside it.

Remember when he unleashed that cobra snake on Randy Savage's arm? Wrestling used to be so cool. All these new guys look the same. Same attire, same hair, using their real names, etc.. I know with some things it's just romantacising the past, but Pro Wrestling really ain't the same as it used to be.

When I saw the movie, I thought of Jake. I was a fan way back when I was a kid, then of course like all things I grew up and changed. My brother and I would watch it on TV on Saturdays and then throw the couch cushions in the floor and wrestle each other, hehehe, good times.

Jake "The Snake" Roberts - The greatest WWF/WWE champion that never was. What a shame he could have been a great heel champ next to the likes of Flair but in the end he's never needed it really. He could always get over without a belt around his waist. But to those who love Jake as I have done for many years - it would have been nice to see him wear the strap just once.
