Great story. It's too bad the Shuttles are retiring in a year. It would be amazing to have them bring Hubble back down to the ground and up for display.
Good story! I didn't know that tiny layer required to adjust the focus. I remember there was also a software correction made prior to the lens correction.
Did someone know when we should see the first image from Hubble after his last servicing mission? I hope things will came out as good as expected!

The Hubble telescope always was a success to me and will always be no matter what,even if only one picture would of came out of it ;o)

yeah, hubble pointed at one of the emptiest regions of space and found thousands of galaxies, its incredible some of the things its discovered

The Hubble took the most distant picture on september 3rd 2003. there were more than 10,000 galaxy in that picture......

But that plan was abandoned a long time ago, prob due to cost considerations.

That Camera did more than save Hubble.
It saved NASA in the 90s.
