So now the oil from the oil sands is sent overseas (oil spill potential) and will be refined in Chinese refineries that pollute more than those in the USA and burned in factories/cars that pollute more. Proud to be an environmentalist myself but can anyone explain how this makes sense to cause more pollution from the same oil?

Would the US rather get its oil from the middle east? What should be considered dirty? Environmental damage or human rights abuse? Like it or not, the US is very dependent on oil, and will be for the foreseeable future. I would like to see that change, but it will be a slow process. Love from Canada

Talk is cheap. The Obama deception continues to dismay and disillusion. The slumber and apathy of the typical 'mainstream' TV viewer is a sleep leading the world into a ditch filled with billionairs content to live in their pristine enclaves, safe with their armies of cops. I can certainly understand the apprehension of a spill, but the fact remains that there is a spider web of pipelines crossing North America, it's how oil and gas get processed and available for one to use. If the US doesn't get their oil from us, they will get it from Saudi Arabia and Venezuela, but not before its shipped in tankers across thousands of miles of ocean. Thus not only would the carbon footprint be larger, but historically the worst spills are from tankers.
