This group has got to be the most UNDERRATED group of the sixties!!! After listening to a few of their songs here on youtube, I'm wondering how come they've haven't been praised ENOUGH!!! In other words, I'M HOOOKED!!!! I especially enjoy how Brian jam on that Hammond!! I'm only 32 years old and I'm ENJOYING their muisc!!
Heard this song on one of my father's C tapes way back when I was young and now found it here. Thank you for posting! Quality is way better than on that old C tape :)
A Dylan-song, I think. This version is great and so is her voice. Memories of -68; a friend of mine went to London, there she cut her hair lust like J D. Hmmm.
I thought the song was being played live as it differed slightly to the record, if Julie was singing live then she was spot on, just like the record, maybe the band playing was playing live & Julie miming? great song/lyrics fantastic singer, I'd love to see her smile.
Yes it's French indeed. The show was called "Idea" and co-billed Julie Driscoll and pre-disco Bee Gees. Director Jean-Christophe Averty and Belgian artist Guy Pellaert joined forces with amazing results on this program broadcasted on the French 2nd Channel on the new year's eve Dec. 31st 1968.
Biggest difference between this and other versions is that Brian plays a clavinet or a harpsichord on the original studio version as well as subsequent live versions. I like it better without the clav, and I also prefer the horn arrangements on this version. Does anyone know if a recording of this version is available on an album?
Clever video

Is that a Fender VI? I think so. He is playing it like a bass. Check out all the cool players that put a Fender Vi on record in the xixesties.

I agree, there is nothing I don't like about JD and the BA3. The vocal, production and song are brillant.

This version of "Road To Cairo" features a different arrangement than the recorded version. Another great example of how talented this group was!
