Gunslinger wrote a lot of their material in 1979, before Motorhead had even released 'Ace Of Spades', and most of their material had been written by 1982.
It's too easy to dismiss this band. I prefer Alan in Bedouin and Hawkwind too, but I bought this album (Earthquake In E Minor) and got a whole lot more than I bargained for!
Nobody is denying that Gunslinger are influenced by Motorhead, Alan is a fanatic, but any Motorhead fan will love this band if they give it half a chance.
@Astromenon1 dude you need to get your facts right, Alan was working on this BEFORE he joined hawkwind, so how exactly has he changed? surely he changed to be in Hawkwind?
Just to say I met Alan in Wales back in June and he's a totally brilliant bloke, funny, generous.....he is the manOh yes! and of course he's also the best and most rocking bass player in the UK. Bless you Alan, Twas an honour to meet you.
Alan Davey is possibly the world's best but most unknown bassplayer - Please everyone buy his stuff. Coax him into doing loads of bass chords and 'Sputnik Stan' type opusses.
If you dont, I'll remind the world that he played with Dumpy at Mildenhall once (but it was brill, so I guess there's no real threat there actually).
Alan is bass assasin No 1. Anyone who can write 'Vision Quest' has got some big stuff going for them.
Mr alan davey's gunslinger will poke you in the eye, then wobble your bottom- you can feel the sheer power through your eyes down your spinal column and then it kicks your arse-
You mean Hawkwind join him ....no chance !
