@NagoDagoe my friend it was an awsome time, everything was changing in society and music. I was 13 in 1961 and it just got better. It helped with the start of pirate radio ships out at sea which broadcast none stop pop. Until then there was little pop on the land radio.
Yes I just wish I could go back, but the advance of medicine and other things I suppose would not make it the best idea, if possible. Anyway through the music here you can get a great flavour of the time. Enjoy!
@TheDavidjoy Haha i like your comment. I'm from the netherlands and i'm well aware of the pirate radio ships. I liked that movie too, ''The boat that rocked''
@TheDavidjoy Although the British found a way to "outlaw" pirate radio ships in 1967, the measure became so controversial that BBC Radio ended up having to launch it's own round-the-clock top-40 network (BBC Radio 1) later that year.
At the same time, people in U.S. cities like New York (WABC and WMCA), Los Angeles (KRLA and KHJ), Boston (WBZ, WMEX, and starting in 1967, WRKO), Philadelphia (WIBG and WFIL) and San Francisco (KFRC and KYA), among others, had two top-40 stations.
Good morning, do you like sixties? Listen and pod cast my program " great sound of 60' s " on the site plumfm. Greeting and made blooper in rock and roll.
